This was a thoroughly silly novella with a totally unnecessary sex scene. I may have been spoiled by the books I read prior to this but I’m reluctant to read more from this author now.

Amelia and the Viscount – Samantha Holt – Amelia may be the sensible oldest sister, but she has the imagination and adventurous spirit to keep up with the viscount up the lane. Cute little novella! Happy Reading!

The story is about 5 sisters. Four of them are singles, Amelia (The protagonist) who is the more serious and sensible of the sisters, Julia who is more devious, Catherine the delightful one, Emma the annoying one and Lavinia who is married and living somewhere else. Amelia is a secret writer who writes scandalous love stories. Amelia is in love with Nicholas, a viscount who used to love her sister Lavinia. Will the viscount love her too? You need to read to know that.

The story is short. The writing is OK. There is no much character development going on here due to the length of the book. The main protagonist is the only character which is a bit more detailed compared to the others. The story has nothing new to offer, it feels more generic like many other historical romances I have read in the past. This book is part of a series and each one will be telling the story of one of the girls. Hopefully, the next one will be better. The book suitable for a fast reading session, but don't expect anything spectacular. I give Amelia and the Viscount a 3.0 out of 5.0 stars.

Amelia and the Viscount
By Samantha Holt
5 stars!

I really, really loved this story! Historical romance is my all-time favourite genre so I was super excited to find this new one to read. I just loved everything about this book – the time period, the descriptive writing and the characters. I loved Amelia, I can only imagine how forbidden her writing would have been in those times! I think I would have liked to see what she wrote in some of her letters to Nicholas though! Nicholas was so lovely, I loved the moment when he realised what he had been missing all along! It was nice to read a book that wasn’t all about sex – I loved reading about their relationship and although it was only a short book there wasn’t anything missing for me – I only wish it had been longer because I was enjoying it way too much to stop reading! The pace and flow of the story was really good.
I really cannot wait to read more from this author in the future – I have definitely found a new historical author to love!

Ameila and The Viscount (Bluestocking Brides Book 1) by Samantha Holt is the first book in her Bluestocking Brides series. This is not my first time reading this author but this is my favorite of her books so far yet. She has created a fast, easy flowing story that will pull you in from the very beginning. Her characters are both connectable and lovable. They pulled my into their story with easy and I felt like they were friends then characters. This story really is about heartwarming, second chances and what you do with them when presented with it. This is the story of Ameila and Nicholas. Ameila is the oldest of three sisters and has been deemed the responsible one. But what everyone don't know is that there is another side to Ameila that she keeps hidden. She has a wild, hot, steamy romance side that she may not even be aware of. Nicholas is a man that seems to be wild to all who know him but there is another side to him that is so much more different. Ameila has always been in love with him but he was suppose to marry her sister but something went wrong and her sister married another. Ameila writes under a pen name which is how she reunites with Nicholas. What will happen when he gets his hands on her writing? Will she be able to hide her secret? Will they finally see what has been right in front of them all along? These two have such great chemistry together. They are just made for each other. I enjoyed that Ameila has a secret side to her, it spiced up the story some. They both are not what they really seem and that helps make the story more engaging. I have always enjoyed historical romances but this one tops the list and I highly recommend you read this story, I think you will find yourself hoping they just open up their eyes to find their happily ever after like I did.

This was a smooth reading story with many good secondary characters. The story line was almost sweet with a hint of anticipation. I could actually see how Amelia and her sisters were a little different than the normal girl of their time.

I would have liked to read more about the scandalous writings by Amelia. And since she didn't know by experience, did that mean she was wiling to try the things she wrote about? The scandalous situation at the party was a great start! This short story could have been a longer story if those details were shared. And I always want more! However, I did really liked how this story left a lot to the imagination...I wonder if all of Holt's books tease the reader this way.

Amelia and the Viscount is the first book in the Bluestocking Brides series by Samantha Holt. This is the first book by Ms. Holt that I have read. I love a good historical romance and I loved the cover of this book. So, I grabbed it and dove right in. It is a really quick and easy read, without too much angst and drama. It was a little slow to get going, but once the pace picked up the whole story flowed better, and I enjoyed what I was reading. The characters were interesting, and likeable, although I would have liked more backstory/details on them. We meet Amelia and her sisters, and are introduced to Lord Nicolas Wentworth. There is a lot happening in this story, especially for such a quick read. But I will leave you to find out all the details of the story for yourself, as there are some interesting developments that really add a lot more interest to this story. I loved the whole letter debacle- and the way the sisters were so quirky, especially for that era. I would be interested in reading the rest of this series.

Thank you, Ms. Holt!

Samantha Holt does a wonderful job writing in the Regency era and weaving a tale of eccentric sisters and following their adventures. Amelia is a fun and quirky heroine. I was pleasantly surprised by the storyline development. It wasn’t as predictable as I thought it might be. It was a fun and quick read. I look forward to reading more from this author and these characters.
