This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2020 so I'm really sad I didn't enjoy it very much.
First of all, the synopsis does not make it seem like it, but this is an urban fantasy (not my favourite genre at all). So the book was not at all what I expected. When I started reading, I thought I had picked up the wrong book by accident and I checked and re-checked that I was actually reading "Seasons of the Storm".
Second, the plot is confusing, the characters are rather one-dimensional and I didn't feel engaged in the romance. Now, I'm not a romance fan in general, but I can enjoy it if the story surrounding it is good and the characters are likeable. It just didn't do it for me in this book.
I considered DNF'ing, but decided I should give it a full go since it was so high on my anticipated releases... Oh well, I've finished it now. I won't be reading the sequel.

Solid 3.5 but not quite a 4 but definitely more than a 3 for me.
The magic system was interesting and although the world building was lacking the writing style I enjoyed and it made me curious to keep reading.
The story unfolds from two view points and the pacing can be sporadic in fast then slow than fast again. The view points really allow you to understand those two main characters and although most of the characters were very likeable, they did lack depth and attention -considering how important they are to the overall plot.
I was hoping for a twist that didn’t happen so that did drag it’s score down for me.
Will be interesting to read the next book since this first one ends like a standalone.

Omg this books changed the way I see life and perspectives of the things around me, this book changed my life and I couldn't think of a better series to read. It's a little slow paced which was difficult for me but overall it was definitely worth every minute of my time.

I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you kindly to HarperTeen for my review copy.
Seasons of the Storm follows Jack, a teenage boy who had a choice; death, or become a Winter, the physical embodiment of the season. According to the ancient rules of Gaia and Chronos, every year he must hunt the season who came before him. Summer kills Spring. Autumn kills Summer. Winter kills Autumn. And Spring kills Winter. But against all the odds Jack, a Winter, and Fleur, a Spring, fell in love. In order to be together, they must rebel against the confines of the system and escape the cycle that keeps them apart.
Yeah, this was unfortunately a bit disappointing. I went in thinking that this was a high-fantasy, but it takes place in our world and I think that’s where it loses a bit of magic for me. Ardent fans of urban fantasy will probably enjoy this a lot more than me though.
Another thing that disappointed me was that this was kind of pitched as a romance, which it is; that’s the driving factor for the Season’s rebellion. Jack and Fleur are in love. Winter and Spring. But they’re already in love when the novel starts. We don’t get to see them falling in love, so it’s kind of hard to feel that connected to their strive to be together. We see no development from either of them and see very little in terms of romance from them, and so it ends up feeling a little forced.
Additionally, the group dynamics fell a little flat. We have the four seasons who have rebelled, and their handlers. But nobody, besides perhaps Jack and Julio, are very well developed or memorable, and the group just doesn’t gel well.
For a nearly 500 page book, I felt like nothing really happened, except in maybe the last 20 percent. The writing is good, but the pace is inconsistent and certain aspects seem repetitive.
I wouldn’t say this is a terrible book, just lackluster. Overall, a disappointing read, but I think that’s because I went in with some entirely different expectations.

Mi aspettavo di più da questo romanzo! Infatti l'ho trovato a tratti lento e prevedibile.
