Read via Scribd audiobook. 4 stars. Read in 2022. New-to-me author. I listened to the audiobook. Good narrator.

I do wish there was more faith aspects woven in. Sometimes I needed a break from the non-stop action intensity. Sometimes the book was 3.5 stars and sometimes it was 4 or 4.5 stars, so I chose 4.

I found various parts of this book very interesting considering the current happenings with the efforts toward a ‘new world order,’ as stated by various world leaders, politicians, royals, etc. However, God has the victory.

I’m in love with Mac and want him to live with us. We have some other cats for him to play with. ;-)

In this debut novel from Melissa Koslin, we are introduced to Kadence, a former CiA agent, on the run from her deadly family. She stumbles upon a man about to be killed, and intervenes. Unable to let it go, she decides to help him discover the reason behind the murder attempt. Lyndon has researched the Ebola virus and is convinced that it can be modified to spread. As terrorists seek to use his research, they work together to stop the deadly threat. Kadence and Lyndon are engaging characters, it's interesting to watch their relationship unfold, and the history that has shaped them.

With everything from an intriguing super virus to riveting suspense and mind-blowing lead characters with unique skill sets, Melissa Koslin captures readers attention with Never Miss!

This epic page-turner kept me engrossed from beginning to end. As Lyndon Vaile and Kadence Tolle join forces, using his brain and her braun to stop a sinister plan unfolding, readers will find themselves a captivated audience in this detailed race against time.

My Full Review:
Readers who enjoy the high-stakes adventure/military style of authors Ronie Kendig or Susan May Warren and the captivating suspense of authors such as Elizabeth Goddard, Dani Pettrey or Lynette Eason might just love Melissa Koslin’s debut novel, Never Miss.

The eye-catching cover to Never Miss immediately drew me in and intrigued me. I expected a suspense story that held a hint of sy-fy (guilty of judging the book by it’s cover!) but rather, found a fast-pace race against time story of two very unique individuals pairing up to stop world destruction with a super-virus.

This novel had great characters whom I enjoyed very much. I loved that they were each working through something and complimented each other well, though they were very different. Koslin surprised and enraptured me with her heroine Kadance, a former CIA sniper with a dark past and with Lyndon, a sexy, highly intelligent man with his own capable, heroic force. Koslin stepped outside the box when she created these two characters and for me, they were the captivating enjoyment behind this story - getting to know them, feeling empowered by their skills and somewhat eccentric minds.

Witnessing the connection form, and grow, between these two characters was what kept me coming back for more from this book.

The story had excellent suspense and moved at a great pace, keeping me intrigued. The creative plot was unique and unlike other novels in the Christian fiction suspense category. The level of detail Koslin incorporated was very appreciated as she carefully unfolded the plot while maintaining the high stakes.

One thing I noticed about this story was how it focused solely on Lyndon and Kadance. The secondary characters played very minor roles which was interesting to me. I found that I enjoyed that aspect and it kept me guessing as to what came next.

While I felt the super-virus threat and suspense was very real and even probable, I did struggle with Kadance’s family of snipers and her situation there. Perhaps that was the imaginative, super-fiction element Koslin was aiming for, but it was lost on me and took away some of the believability of the story for me.

Overall, however, Never Miss was different from others in its genre and that in itself, was refreshing! The characters were highly enjoyable, eccentric and skilled. The novel is well written and after reading the teaser for Koslin’s next novel, I’m delighted to say, I can’t wait!

I was drawn to this book because of the premise of the story. The beginning did grab me right away. There is mystery surrounding Kadance and her background. A woman of mystery for sure. While, I did get to know her better and her background as the story progressed, I do feel like she was holding back still a bit. Whereas, Lyndon was too at the start but he laid it all out there afterwards. Lyndon is very intelligent with his three doctorate; this can lead to the character talking "above" a normal reader's grasp. I liked that Lyndon did not do this.

The story had a good fast pacing. Normally, this would not be an issue but it suffered from the characters. While, I liked Kadance and Lyndon, I felt a bit of a disconnect towards both of them. Therefore, I found myself going through the motions of reading but not absorbing the story at times. The last third of the story is where I did become fully engaged again. So for me the beginning and ending were the strongest but the middle was just fine. Still this was a good read.

What a wonderful debut from Melissa Koslin!
I always enjoy new authors because they bring something new to the table that I often don't know I've been missing. For me, this book was all about the characters. They were INCREDIBLY unique, but also EXTREMELY likable. Koslin was able to create vastly "flawed" individuals who not only were interesting enough to want to follow through this story, but had you rooting for them from some of the first pages. Because of their unique personalities, the romance was very unique too. I didn't necessarily love it, but it worked for the characters enough to not be a distraction. The fast pace and high action, kept the plot moving swiftly, and I was felt like I let out a big breath I'd been holding when I finished. There were also great breadcrumbs, along the way, about the mastermind behind the plot. I will definitely be in line to read Koslin's next novel.
I listened to the audio version, and found the narrator to be a good fit for the story.

I received a copy of this book digitally via NetGalley. I also ordered a copy from Baker Book House. I read and reviewed this book voluntarily, and all opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Christian romantic suspense is my personal favorite genre, and so I am always on the lookout for new authors to read. As such, I was excited to give this debut from Melissa Koslin a try. After finishing the story, I must admit I'm still a bit torn on how I actually felt about it...

On the positive, it started out with a bang and drew me in immediately. Though I've read other stories in which a virus outbreak is threatened, I found that the approach that this story took seemed unique and that did make it more enjoyable. In fact in reading, I found myself thinking often that there was something unique about the telling of this story. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was, but it was certainly different. That could be perhaps the history of the hero and heroine.

While I did enjoy Kadence and Lyndon, their backgrounds seemed almost too perfect. They were both highly trained and highly skilled, almost to the point that it seemed unbelievable. Yes, they had their personal difficulties, but in their chosen professions it almost seemed too easy.

I still enjoyed the story, but I think I might have enjoyed it a bit more had it seemed like there was a chance that this overly capable pair might not succeed. That said, this was quite the debut nonetheless and I so look forward to seeing more from this author in the future!

**I received a complimentary copy of the book for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
