I have really enjoyed the recipes in this books so far. And also the brief explanation of the Whole30 concept. I have seen a lot of complaints about the book containing simple recipes like how to fry an egg, but when you are eating simple whole foods knowing how to prepare them well makes all the difference in the world! I know I will reference this book a lot for the large section on sauces, dips, and dressings. It's nice to be able to whip up homemade mayonnaise, ketchup, or dressing to spice up any dish. The only thing missing is a dessert section...kidding (not kidding).

I learned about the Whole30 after seeing it on the new books shelf at the library where I work some time last fall. The concept intrigued me, and I decided to give it a try. I talked my husband into doing it with me, and we started January 1, 2017. The book clearly outlines why certain foods are omitted, why others aren't, and all of the rules to the program. I recognize a lot of this information is found online, but I wanted it all in one reference guide, along with some of the recipes.

My husband and I did feel quite good during the 30 days, and we are just finishing our reintroduction phase now. While the plan did take a lot of work (so much cooking! so many dishes!) and felt expensive (tons of fresh produce and meat add up), we both recommend the Whole30, and this book, to anyone wanting to feel better about their food intake, change their relationship with food, and to determine how food affects you.

I read this book because I wanted to know more about the Whole30 diet that colleagues at work were planning on starting in the New Year. I picked this book up, but realized that this book is really the companion book to It Starts With Food which is the book that details The Whole30 diet.

This book has more food advice and recipes that you can refer to as you do the Whole30 diet. It does give an overview of the diet, but not the details. My takeaway after reading this and looking at The Whole30 website: I am planning on doing the Half30 (my version). I am not going to eliminate everything that they say too. I will cut out alcohol, sugar and processed foods - which I feel is more realistic and will not put my body in a state of extreme ketosis which is what the Whole30 diet is really all about.

Starting tomorrow. I need a reset. I like the was she tells you what you will go through over the 30 days. and the recipes are good to chose from for the first week or continuing for the 30 days.

I've heard a lot about Whole30 in recent years but I was only hearing bits and pieces. I had heard about how it has helped with weigh-loss, how it helps reset your digestive system, how it can help people figure out what foods disagree with them, etc.

I've had weird digestive issues the last few years and I haven't been able to really figure it out. It may be dairy, it may be gluten, it may be neither of those, I don't really know. At the beginning of 2019, I decided enough was enough. I bought this to really learn about Whole30 and I'm so glad I did! I'm excited to start my first Whole30 armed with all the knowledge I gained from this book. It also had a bunch of recipes to help me kick this off on the right foot.

I'd happily recommend this book to anyone who:
- is considering starting their first Whole30
- has had digestive issues and really wants to get to the truth of the matter
- has had trouble sticking with healthy eating habits and/or maintaining a healthy weight

We did this reset and had great overall results. Looking forward to her next book for more details on how to handle food after the reset.

Best decision I ever made was to try a Whole 30. It redefined my relationship with food and how I approach nutrition and eating without ever feeling deprived of the joys of food.

This is my second time reading this. It is full of information. It is well written and the information is written in a way that is clear and concise. We are over halfway through with our 3rd Whole30 and are going strong!

Great follow up to It Starts With Food making it simpler for people to understand without the science. It is great that there are some recipes and a one week meal plan with even a guide to prepping for the week and what to do each day for people who are new to healthy eating/home cooking. This is easy enough for a beginner to follow and they go over the basics which is great for beginners. Quick and easy read and easy to understand.
