Nothing about the story (and elements) was truly spectacular, but it was a really entertaining read though.

Some elements remained a bit too shallow to my opinion; I missed some more in depth development here and there. But overall it's a fast paced and entertaining steamy romance story I think lots of romance readers would enjoy.

I am a sucker for a "fake dating" trope.

What will make me skim a book however is the "im a man so I will talk to you like im all man and your my play thing and I will give you this cute nickname that no one else's uses just so I have a way to label you as mine" trope.

what I also street gf led with was the narrator for the audio book.....if I didnt already not like Rhys, which I hated him already and dont see what Parker sees in him, the narrators monotone "tough guy" strong new York accent made me like him even less. This just didnt work for me.

Also all of these books have the same formula:
- tough guy
- wall flower girl
- he decides he wants her
- she pretends to push him away
- they sleep together "for her" (eye roll)
- then something happens to push them apart;

this is where this story fell apart, the reason for this altercation was weak, overreaction.

Why am I giving this 3 stars. Because the back story itself was interesting and the smut was done well, which is all you really get from this sort of story

With her, I felt like something new, something better. “I’m so fucking crazy about you, Parker Brown. You have no idea.” Her smile was the sun. “I might have some idea.”

This book was really enjoyable, I basically read it in three days. But as it always seems to happen when I read romance, It just didn't hit my heart, you know? But it is nice to get out of my confort zone sometimes and read something different.

January pick for The Romancetheque book club.

I thought I was going to love this but, it fell very flat for me. Read like your almost typical boyfriend/girlfriend for hire that leads to love. I would defiantly want a book about Rhys' brother Dean and Parker's friend Zoe.

This is one of those romances that I went into it for the trope and came out of it loving it for the characters. This was that sweet, sometimes we need to be told straight stories that captured my heart.

My only Cristism is that the ending felt oddly rushed.

But overall a fantastic book.

He falls first, good girl/bad boy, fake dating

The audio book version

Rhys' "accent" was a horrible mix between a fake Boston accent and Russian kinda? Not great, hard to get used to.

Parker didn't like swearing for a while. "What the heck?" Had to spell out the word "prick" because that was too much of a swear. Very irritating.

But then about half way through it got better. Cute.

Outmatched was a fun, low-angst romance. Callihan and Young’s writing blended well as they gave us a fake relationship filled with contentious banter between two well-meaning characters. And though it was slower in producing the magnetic chemistry—the kind to really draw me in—it was still an enjoyable read.

Both Parker and Rhys felt fully developed and their arcs defined from the beginning, and I loved that though they had a rough beginning with one another, that tension bled into emotions that each author could really pull from. Their dynamic—the nerd and the fighter—felt fun and served its purpose in telling a good love story of opposites colliding with unexpected results. I hope that these two come together to tell another story as they complemented each other well.

**Received an early copy; this had no bearing on my opinions**
