Still good, but this one was hard to read at some points with the suspected cheating from Bones.

WOW, this was awesome! Janine writes the fighting scenes with extraordinary detail. There's always some fluff. Although there was a LOT of angst in this book.

Another winner in the Night Huntress series - Cat keeps surprising me, and I love that this is possible. There was a lot of heartache in this one, and a very big blast from the past for Cat.

Cat and Bones are taking a much needed break after the events of the previous book when secrets from Cat’s past emerge to disrupt the couples’ life once again and this time it might just be for good.

Cat & Bones have never been particularly appealing to me as a couple and this book has only solidified that opinion. The first half is characterized by constant miscommunications and silly misunderstandings, tropes that are more akin to contemporary romance than urban fantasy. Thankfully, the second half returns to the actions and excitement one expects from this genre.

The story develops slowly at first with the introduction of the villain, his past history with Cat, and Bones’s reaction to events. It does ultimately pick up toward the middle and there are many twists and turns that kept me listening. Once again, it is the secondary characters that caught my interest with Vlad playing a particularly entertaining part in the story, and I am really looking forward to his spin-off.

Tavia Gilbert’s narration is very good although I’ve come to realize that her Cockney accent for Bones may just be the reason for my failure to appreciate him. It is simply too ridiculous for me to take him seriously as a sexy, all powerful vampire hero.

Definitely not my favorite of the series, but how could it be when there's a realistic competitor for Cat's affection, even for a moment? But Cat showed him what she really thought of him in the end now didn't she? *snort* I still loved the book because it's a Cat and Bones book, and it rates higher than the last book that had so many so very sad spots, whereas this one had fits of anger. I'd always rather read anger than sadness!! If I liked sadness, I'd just switch back and forth between watching Beaches and Steel Magnolias and movies like them. No thank you!! I'm trying to decide if I should continue with the next book or wait a little bit, so that I finish the current published books sooner to when the final Cat and Bones book is released at the end of January. (Talk about a sad subject!!) Oh and for those interested, Ms Frost as released a little info about her new series, though I'm guessing at least the Night Prince series isn't done, unless it gets tied up with Cat and Bones' last book, which I hope not, I really do love her Vlad Tepesh!!!

This plot seems like it came out of nowhere. You want me to believe Mencheres was able  to wipe Cat's memories and then said nothing?
It's dated with bad descriptions of PoC and non-Americans, ridiculous misogyny, and Cat hating on a woman just for looking at Bones.
And the arguing between Cat and Bones was annoying.

wiping this from my memory as we speak the plot itself wasn't too bad this time but the way that several key moments were handled made me so irritated LMAO

If you are looking for a realistic, thoughtfull and poignant read, stop reading this review and look for something else. Because Destined for an Early Grave is not that.
Night Huntress is the junk food of urban fantasy. It's fast, passionate, has no nutritional value for your brain and cliched. And I enjoyed every minute of it.
