Well I've certainly changed my relationship with my phone as a result of reading this book and I'm spending more quality time with my loved ones. I guess the dropped star is a little unfair because the reason for it is that the last week didn't seem necessary... For me, the biggest changes occurred in the first 14 days with days 15 to 30 being added insurance. If you're serious about changing your relationship with your phone then you can't go wrong by following, and I mean "truly" following, this book.

I don't think you need the whole book, just the checklist of things to do... but the checklist is GREAT if you're tryin to ditch your phone.

This is good info. Probably most people will just read it all in one or two sittings, I did, and take the advice given for the 30 day “break up” plan. It does provide good tips and tricks and ideas. Although I think most of it could be found by reading a few articles on the internet so this is a good one to check out from the library. It did give me the push to set up some parameters and ask myself what I want to get out of my phone.
Two things I found problematic about the advice:
- the author assumes all “emergencies” and most important communication comes from phone calls. I don’t know many people who actually use their phone for calls. It’s mostly texts and emails.
- it seems to be focused for city people with comments about not taking your phone even for emergencies because “everyone around you has a phone”.

Definitely offered some great strategies to "break up" with your phone. Implemented some if them immediately.

I have to admit that I cheated here… instead of taking a full 30 days to go through the prompts, I sped through them to finish the book before my library borrow time expired. I think this book would be more impactful if you took your time on it!
It did feel overly repetitive and pretty basic to me, but I loved the emphasis on mindfulness.
