This Author likes nothing better than a happy ending. And if that makes me a romantic fool, so be it.

If I'm going to power through this series month by month, I cannot dedicate brainpower to writing elaborate reviews. I now present my list of likes and dislikes for The Viscount Who Loved Me.

~Likes~
-I've never understood the appeal of the enemies to lovers trope, but the banter between Anthony and Kate? Top-notch.
-Don't think I've read a series this long since my Shadowhunter days, so it's nice to get comfortable with a cast of characters. The Bridgerton family is so cute.
-Newton.

~Dislikes~
-Okay, I know I said I like the banter, but the borderline hostility between Anthony and Kate made me downright uncomfortable at times. Went from tantalizing to concerning in a flash. Seems like there's more of that than there is romance, which is a shame.
-Honestly, it didn't feel like much truly happened in this one. Anthony's fear of mortality and Kate's childhood trauma provide context but also begin to feel like filler.
-Too much of this book just felt like the first one. A bad boy with issues stemming from his early years, a plucky *unique* girl. He doesn't want to fall in love, she does, he runs away from his burgeoning feelings, happily ever after. What makes this one any different? Pall Mall and anaphylaxis, I guess.

much to my surprise, i actually liked this? historical fiction isn’t really my cup of tea, but once again this was one emily forced me to read. the enemies to lovers trope within this book really did everything for me. i loved anthony and kate and the progression of their relationship throughout the story. they always kept me on my toes, especially with anthony’s character development around falling in love. i do wish more had happened in the middle? i found some parts of the book to be a little bit repetitive after a while, which definitely could just be me but idk. i also (like emily) was expecting a grander ending. i was so ready for a dramatic, incredible ending but i almost feel like it fell flat. i’m not sure what i would’ve liked in its place, but i was wanting more. all in all, i liked this book a lot more than i thought i would! who knows, maybe i’m a historical fiction girly now?? thanks emily!

I don't remember much about the first book, but I have to say it's very different when I read the second book. I really like Kate and Anthony's relationship here, and it's very different from the show so even I like Edwina here.

I'm always weak(?) when it comes to a relationship between the oldest kids, because I can sense the maturity and protective side of them, which I can understand. Aaand I feel like Kate is more reasonable here when it comes to disliking Anthony because, man, he is really annoying. XD

I really like their conversations here. Some of them I can relate sooo much, and the others are just fun to read. Really enjoyable. I don't know why I stopped reading it the first time, but I'm glad I gave it a second chance.

To say the least, I love the Bridgertons.

So Daphne's story was cute and all but I am obsessed with Anthony. I read these because I knew Netflix was coming out with a season based on the first book but this one had better get its own season too! Yes, the plot is predictable but you should have known that going into this; it's a romance for god's sake. Anyway, I am obsessed with Kate (her character development really resonated with me being the not as attractive older sister and all).

The only thing I would say takes away from this book is the honest stupidity of Anthony's arguments. He says he can't get married because he's going to die at 30? Like what? Of course he's not going to die and in addition marrying without love is just a waste of time. Why get married at all then? Regardless, Anthony is still a Bridgerton and I love a good family man so it'll slide.

//OVERALL, this was a really quick read! There's also plenty more where it came from because there's 8 of these books (8 siblings duh).

Bridgerton 2: Electric Boogaloo wasn't as good as the first one but it was still a pleasant, very fluffy read that was occasionally quite funny.

I'm not sure Quinn is capable of writing a male character who isn't an asshole, and Anthony is certainly no exception. If the first two in the series are any indication of the rest, you could call this Toxic Masculinity: The Series. That being said, they're not without their redeeming qualities and even when I think a character is a dick, I don't find him entirely unlikeable.

This book's strength is in the dialogue, which is sharp and often funny. I laughed out loud several times. I'm reminded a bit of Gilmore Girls or The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Very quick, snarky, playfully sharp-tongued back and forths. Fun to read.

I enjoyed this more more than its predecessor (probably because I've watched series 1 before reading book 1(among other things)). The almost enemies-to-lovers change in their relationships was very enjoyable. It was, in addition, a very funny book. Kate personality was nice too
