The contents of this book are not revolutionary for anyone who has read a few basic books on psychology and self-improvement, but they are interesting and valuable nonetheless! The author has such a warm and understanding tone of voice (both literally and figuratively) and she manages to give advice without sounding patronizing. I also liked that she presented herself as a vulnerable human being herself that is only separated from her readers by her scientific background and years of experience.

Some useful reflection with supporting tools, but recommend using as appropriate rather than read right through.

DNF, found it a bit repetitive and didn't get far enough into it before the library copy was returned.

In an ideal world everyone goes to therapy and has the tools and know-how to manage their issues. In a more realistic world, everyone has read this book as a great starting point to understanding more about how to support their own mental health as well as that of others.
Smith provides a lot of information in a very accessible format, with chapter summaries and suggested tasks included to make sure that things are easy to understand and to apply to our own lives.
A good resource to keep coming back to I think.
