Molti ups, alcuni downs, qualche contraddizione di troppo.
Non vedo comunque l'ora che esca il seguito.

This book was really good. Just came back from a fantastic cruise and I can't think straight so I can't explain everything.

2.5 stars.
I've read the Iliad by Homer and that was why I wanted to read more about Helen, because clearly the Iliad isn't about romance.
The plot was very confusing in the starting. It was almost about to be a didn't finish for me.
After a while it got better. But the love between Lucas and Helen was so.. Instant.
I mean one minute they're just saving each other and the next they can't live without each other.
Especially in the case of Lucas. He seemed too into it. Calm down! You've not even known her for like a month.
The story was good. All my Greek mythology and Ancient Tragedy plays finally came to some use.
The characters were very similar to one another.
Even Creon, who as a character was supposed to stand out.
There were times when nothing was happening and then times when everyone was doing all things at the same time.
To be honest Claire as a best friend was getting on my nerves.
All in all, it was an okayish read for me. I don't know if I'll pick the next one up,
Considering it's going to be a love triangle.

I really enjoyed reading this one. I had bought it back when Jenny told me I would like it, then I promptly forgot about its existence. So it was pretty fun when I actually started reading, because I couldn't remember what it was about. Of course, it doesn't take too long to figure out the plot when characters with names like Hector, Ariadne, Helen and Jason (among others) are all hanging out. BUT the point is, it was pretty entertaining!

It had many of the typical eyeroll-inducing things that this genre tends to have: Super fast romance, extra special princess powers, too pretty to exist people, etc. But whatever, I don't normally care, and I still don't. It works, and I love cheesiness.

One thing that saddened me though, was the end, where
Spoilerthey had to go and make sure the audience knew Lucas and Helen weren't related. Nooo! This ruins the angst! At least leave me guessing, all Jace/Clary-style. I mean, the reader would assume they aren't related, and we'd find out eventually, but I imagine there is lots of "Omg we can't be together because GENETICS!" in the next one, and that angst won't be nearly as fun if I know that they, you know, aren't. BOO
. So that was a thing. But otherwise, fun to read, HECTOOOORRRRRRR, and yay pretty cover.

I LOVED IT, I LOVED IT, I LOVED IT!!!!

An amazing story that will pull you in from the start, send you on a roller-coaster ride and throw you out the other end more that satisfied!!!

Helen Hamilton is the shy girl around town who lives with her father after her mother abandoned them. She spends most of her time just trying to blend into the crowed because if she even thinks she is becoming centre of attention she gets the strangest pains in her stomach.
As she gets ready to start Junior year with best friend Claire, Helen discovers a new family has moved to town and several of the members will also be attending school. The Delos family is the talk of the town, but Helen is already fed up of hearing about them and couldn't really care less, that is until she sets eyes on Lucas Delos. Driven by a power and rage she doesn't understand Helen attacks Lucas with the intent to kill him in the middle of the crowded school corridor. Helen doesn't understand what is happening or why. Every time she sees a member of the Delos family she wants to kill them. And if that wasn't bad enough, each time she sees them a trio of blood crying sisters appear, which Helen later learns are The Furies.
After being saved by the Delos family from being abducted one night, Helen has an encounter with Lucas that will change the fates forever.
Helen discovers that she is a descendant of the Greek Gods and she and the Delos family are part of an ancient blood-feud.

I loved this story! The only other thing I have read that contains Greek mythology is Percy Jackson and I enjoyed that and remember thinking I wish there were more books like it! And now my wishes have come true with STARCROSSED! I can't praise this book enough!!! I will admit, I don't know my Greek mythology as much as I would like but Angelini's take on the subject has me hooked more than ever before!

I really like the development of Helen's character as the story progresses, she goes form shy girl about town, to a kick ass heroine. I like how her relationships with friends old and new grow as she learns to accept herself. I love Claire, the spunky best friend, who isn't afraid to say what she thinks and has total faith in Helen. The relationship between Helen and Lucas is very believable both 'before and after', you will see what I mean. And the secondary characters feel just as important as the main characters, and are written about with just as much love. Hector, Lucas' cousin really stands out for me, he's a bit of a bad-boy who just wants to protect his family.
Many questions are posed throughout this story and although most are answered several have been left for
DREAMLESS, book 2. Which I need please :) Because I spent the last four or so chapters with my hand to my mouth! I have become obsessed with this story and still find myself wondering what is going to happen to the characters.

Angelini's writing is truly beautiful and compelling.
Another 2011 debut author I'll be keeping both eyes on!

After reading 100 pages, I had to put it down. I just couldn't get into the story and I wasn't a fan of the author's writing at all. Helen also annoyed me. Maybe I'll try this book some other time, but for now I need to move on.

This is the kinda book that in high school, I would have given like three stars. Coming off the crest of Twilight-mania, this is the kind of book I would have enjoyed. (And Yes, the first time I read Twilight, I loved it. Subsequent re-reads, not so much.)

However, at 26, this book is a nightmare. Listen, I get it - I'm not the demographic for YA. I don't care, YA has some of the most enjoyable writing I've come across. This, however, sucked ass. and it was a shame too, since it started out so interesting.

Do you know that mothers curse their talented daughters with something called the Cramps Curse? Because girls shouldn't outshine boys? That every time a demigod is born, they were the face of someone killed at the battle of Troy? Did you know that Helen and Creon couldn't possibly be related because he's never felt a hard-on when he looked at his real cousins? These are just some of the things that I had to read with my own two eyeballs.

It literally pulled stuff from Twilight, City of Bones and 800 other paranormal/fantasy YA. Also, there's this series called Percy Jackson and it did demigods WAY, WAY, WAY better.

I decided to DNF this book because I'm not loving it. I don't really like the characters and the insta love annoyed me and I was confused by the character's actions.
