I just can’t. I can’t take it anymore.

The writing is so convoluted. Something that can be described in probably a sentence is described with three paragraphs. There is so much that doesn’t even need to be included, but is — in excruciating detail. It makes everything so boring.

So far we get a prologue where we witness the current toxic relationship between Milo and Raven. Then we jump back to their teens and…it. Is. Slow. I mean, it’s good to get their history. But this seriously could’ve been summed up so much better. Just get to it already. What happened in the past to change their relationship? Why drag it out so much? Do we really need to know every detail, even the ones that don’t even move the story forward?

Milo I feel absolutely terrible for. He’s had to grow up and take care of basically 3 kids as a teen himself. The parents of Milo, Mia, and Reid, as well as Raven’s parents are completely absent, basically abandoning their kids and putting a teenage Milo in charge. Who does that? It’s not even legal, dude!

And then there’s Raven. We’re told how she’s so MATURE and so GROWN UP with how she acts…except not really. Reid acts like a total jealous douchbag and tells Raven she can’t have a friendship with Milo and him at the same time. What? Seriously? What an asshole. Then she AGREES and…talks to Milo about it? Nope. No, instead of having a MATURE and GROWN UP conversation with him about it, she just completely freezes him out of her life with no explanation whatsoever. He’s so utterly confused and broken-hearted. I’m sorry, but that just makes her a total bitch. You know what else makes her a bitch? He gets her this amazing birthday present to Paris and does she thank him? Nope…still freezing him out. She’s all like “k…byeee! I’ll just take your brother with me instead of you!”. Fuck this bitch! Does she have a soul? You’re kidding me with this right?

I don’t know what happens from here. But I predict that Milo goes nutso from being shut out by the only person that has been there for him, more bitchiness from Raven, and I couldn’t care less about Reid.

I just CAN’T STAND a bitchy heroine that has no empathy whatsoever. She’s not even fun bitchy, she’s ice cold robotic bitchy And I can already tell that my heart will not be warming up to Raven. And I don’t like the writing style either (as said above). I’m done with this one. Moving on…

P.S. Oh and one more thing…. I HATE books that incorporate COVID into the plot. Hate it. I don’t want to be reminded of this shit fest when I’m reading. I read to ESCAPE it.

The story was interesting, the characters well can't deny Milo is very very interesting, yet somehow I kind of struggled with it, I think it was all the past tense of it but that was probably me or the day I read it, the steamy scenes are great and definitely has triggers for some readers, since I have none on this particular matters and I love very bad boys I like those parts of the story, they were refreshing and unique, want to know what happens next.

Holy hell. This is a debut book?!? Mindblown. I wasn't expecting the way that this book went. It started out in the present amidst the current hell that the world is experiencing and then went back in time until the very end where it looped back around to the present. I liked that. It ended on a whopper of a cliffhanger. I hope it stays present in the next book.

Definitely has some triggers but this author is on my watch list now.

finished it in 4 hours. i loved the backstory between the sinclairs & raven, it was honestly such a sweet dynamic.

some of the character choices made me wanna pull my hair out but i could understand their actions too. there was more angst than i thought there would be. starting book 2 now

I'm not a big fan of the writing. It's a guardian-ward relationship. Raven was best friends with Reid who lived next door. Reid had a younger sister and an older brother, Milo. Milo took on a parental figure when they were young, for his siblings but also for Raven. He was her legal guardian. Milo confided in her a lot and Raven had a crush on him. Reid was jealous of their relationship and started hating Milo so Raven had to distance herself from Milo. Covid hit and Raven and the others had to move back home. Raven and Milo started fucking each other again and at the end of the book, they were discovered by their family. The book ended on a "cliffhanger" when there was a little flashback reveal where Reid's younger sister told Raven that Reid had a crush on her. It was the most underwhelming cliffhanger in the history of cliffs.

The whole book was just a back-and-forth flashback of Milo and Raven's relationship and the whole time it was just them pushing and pulling each other. There was almost no plot and it just wasn't interesting enough for me. And the smut wasn't even that fun. I think this could've been a very short novella instead.
