Why did I wait so long to read this book? WHY?!?!
I know a book is good when I start reading it at 5pm and finish it by 8. I couldn’t put it down!
I remember seeing the movie a few years ago and didn’t really think about it BUT WHEN I READ THE BOOK! Yes. I had a huge fangirl moment and was so obsessed with the capital and what was going to happen and like OMG. YES. The book seems to have a lot more gore and a lot more bang than the movie did. There was a lot more going on and a lot more in the characters in the book. It's a young adult action packed thriller. It also takes place in America in the future which I didnt get from the movies but was pretty cool to know when I read the books.
Katniss is the female character who completely kicksass. She doesn’t need a guy. She uses love to win. She gets a hearing disability and still is a super B.A. She’s what young females need as a role model. Hell, she’s my role model.
Thankfully I’m going on vacation at the end of the week so I can read Catching Fire and Mockingjay well on the plane which will make me forget I’m flying.

This was a page-turner of a book. I had a really hard time putting it down. It was separated into easily manageable chapter sizes, which is a plus for me. The problem was, I didn't want to stop even at the chapters end!
It's not the most original idea. It's been covered by Stephen King, among others, but it was written in a very original way. I was impressed with how the author kept the book YA, but still managed to convey the gritty violence and reality of the games.
I was longing for a happy ending. Of course, if a real love affair had developed between Peeta and Katniss, Gale would have been left alone. He was only physically present in the first couple of chapters, but the author kept Gale in the forefront throughout the story. Although I wasn't happy with the semi-cliffhanger ending, I am anxious to read the next in the series and see who does get the happy ending. Gale or Peeta. Or will there be no happy ending. I was left really wanting to know.

I am so late to this franchise (I read Divergent and was then too peer pressured to read these as well, Stupid I know) but I am here now and I cannot believe how much I allowed myself to miss out on! The writing style was so easy to follow yet allowed me to paint the pictures of the story in my mind (I also have not watched all of the films at this point) and I immediately fell in love. The concept was intriguing to me and finally getting to read it for myself was such a weirdly nostalgic experience and I really enjoyed it.
