I. Just. Love. This.
Oscar and Cal are absolutely everything. Hurt/comfort, size difference, paranormal/fantasy, mm romance.
Hurt/comfort is one of my favourite tropes and this was done so well. I just loved how much Cal was there for Oscar, helping him through his past trauma.
Oscar is human, he’s a teacher and he’s still healing from his past abusive relationship. Cal is a demon with a reputation, after leaving hell with his brothers over a hundred years ago, he’s just happy living his life on earth, just running his bookshop and hooking up with no wants for a relationship. Until he meets Oscar. There was a good mix of plot and spice, the story flowed nicely and I didn’t feel like the spice was taking over.
I honestly wasn’t expecting this to be as fun as it was. I was expecting something dark, which it still was, but the humour, the sarcastic comments and banter made this a lot lighter than it would have been. I’m also a sucker for size difference, so yeah, that was pretty hot.
I can’t wait for Harlow’s book, I just loved him.

So Dan Calley is a new to me narrator and I'm not loving his voice, so this wasn't an easy listen. What didn't help either was the story from an equally new to me author.

I kinda think I should have DNFed but I stuck it out... why? I wasn't keen on starting a book to read so I kept listening and playing games on my phone.

You see the story was just... basic and cheesy and predictable. There is an overreaching plot throughout the 4 books in the series but it was hardly explored! Everything centered around Oscar's trauma and not in the way of healthy ways to deal with it.

Repetitive and monotone, no interest aroused when it came to the MCs and overall just a very old and tired insta-love, fated mates story.

Oscar has baggage, and Cal has secrets. But something otherworldly draws them to each other, and when Cal's past threatens to bleed into his present, there is nothing Cal won't do to keep Oscar safe.

Cal's father wants to bring his sons back home - the three that left Hell and their positions as the princes, Lucifer's sons. They want nothing to do with this. And then Cal mets Oscar. Feisty, nerdy Oscar who has been through his own personal hell, and survived. There's an undeniable connection between the two when they meet, and their connection grows very strong, very fast.

Cal is overprotective, a little possessive, and absolutely smitten with Oscar. Which is exactly what Oscar needs - because Cal builds him up. Cal supports him, but he doesn't try to control Oscar in any way. They treat each other as equals. They respect each other, and they work together to get through challenges. Even when the threat of mortal danger looms high and mighty.

This book was a solid mix of world building, some backstory, and character development. The plot is clearly one that will be ongoing - Lucifer won't give up trying to regain control of his sons. But Cal is stronger with Oscar by his side. And there are three more brothers left to find their mates. I'm sure what comes next is bound to be a very wild ride.
