The sweetest story.

This is the sweetest and most realistic story of redemption that can be achieved with the power of love, support and a little push.

Mia Sheridan never fails to make me fall in love with love. Her stories and her characters are something I'd never get tired of.

The Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast, and Jane Eyre are my 3 favorite stories so it’s no surprise that I loved this book. There are mentions of The Phantom of the Opera throughout this book, of how Jonah’s situation is similar to the Phantom’s, but Jonah also reminded me of the Beast and also a bit of Mr Rochester. I really loved seeing Jonah’s walls coming down the longer he knew Clara. This is a story of redemption, hope, patience, acceptance and understanding. But most of all it’s about loving yourself so that you are free to love other people. Because if you don’t love yourself, you wn’t believe that anyone else can.
A few things about this book:
-slow burn(first kiss happens after 50% mark)
-grumpy/sunshine
-age gap
-HEA
For fans of spice, this is not overly detailed in that regard. Only two scenes that I can think of and they were not too descriptive, but I still really enjoyed it.

When I discovered that Mia Sheridan, author of Archer's Voice, which is one of my favorite books of all time had written a Beauty and the Beast sort of tale, I jumped at the chance to read it. Beauty and the Beast retellings will always be my weakness.

This is a beautiful love story that had me in tears several times. It's Beauty and the Beast meets Phantom of the Opera, with so many references to both works that fans of either will absolutely adore. The love story here within its pages touched me in a way few romances have in a long while.
Yes, there is a bit of insta-love here (from the MMC), but that happens with a lot of Sheridan's works. However, you have to trust the process with her, and her stories always work out.

Not only did the love story touch me, but also the FMC's story in dealing with her father's Alzheimers. As someone who once had a father with the same disease, I related to so much of what was going on and said, and found it was treated respectfully and beautifully.

This is one story I will always treasure.

The case of insta-love aside, this had an interesting storyline. It reminded me somewhat of the Phantom of the Opera. What I liked most was probably Cecil and Myrtle with their unyielding and tender support for Jonah - they were so precious! All in all I didn't feel invested in the writing, but the plot was original and compelling enough to keep me reading.

I took my time with this book, because ive been falling in love with the male characters of Mia Sheridan.
Jonah was intense, i really liked him and i can picture him in my mind so clear. I wish the book was longer. I already miss them!

I loved how two stories were intertwined together to create one great love story. I'm in the minority here when I say that I actually enjoyed the story of Angelina and John a little bit better than the story of Jonah and Clara. All of the characters were written flawlessly and at times I could imagine what that wall looked like and the grounds at Windisle both in past and present. This author has a way of giving the reader just enough to picture the characters and their surroundings and allowing one to fully experience this captivating story.
