Nothing like a good dose of humor and mystery with librarian sleuth, Lindsey. Lindsey is delivering books to the island where reclusive brothers, Peter and Stewart, reside. When Stewart doesn't come to meet her at the shore, she and boat captain, Sully go to the house to try to find them. What they find instead is Peter's dead body and no sight of Stewart. Lindsey tries to help find Stewart and solve the murder. I do enjoy this series and need to get caught up.

Small town librarian is an unusual sleuth for cozy domestic mysteries, although the love life complications and the strained relationship with local law enforcement are staples. The plot here is a bit different, with reclusive hoarding brothers and greed from the past.

This is my favorite setting of a murder in the entire series. Lindsey and Sully go to deliver some library books to 2 patrons who are homebound on the thumb islands. When they show up, one of the brothers has been murdered and the other one missing. However, the things we learn about on the island with all the clutter that has been horded, a scene where they find themselves in the house hiding and being chased and the information we learn about some of the items from 2 men who come to town to possibly buy some antiques is so interesting. I think the more the series goes on, the more the author puts Lindsey in more dangerous situations...and it is edging towards the improbable to understand and non-reality. However, the entertainment of the love triangle keeps the books going very well. At this point in the series, a reader certainly keeps reading because they have fallen in love with the main characters and also want to live in briarcreek.

Read for the Cozy Mystery Book Club. I had originally given it 3 stars (very enjoyable) but after our conversation I changed it to 4 stars. It was quite a great conversation, surprisingly indepth!

I'm always sad when I finish a book in this series because I just want to keep going with these characters. Sadly I now have to wait for the next one to be published.

This was a quick and enjoyable read (as always). I loved the scenes that took place at the Rosen's cluttered and booby-trapped house, it was a nice change for Lindsay's investigations. Of course we have the love triangle between Lindsay, Sully and Robbie (which I think is silly....how can she not see she and Sully love each other!!) I'm hoping this will be resolved soon, but am glad it wasn't a HUGE part of this mystery. I definitely didn't see the ending coming exactly the way it happened. There were some complicated family ties in this one and I had to re-read that section to get it right (characters named Stewart and Steven....I kept getting them confused). Briar Creek seems like a really lovely place to live. All my favorite characters were included (except Charlie), but as always I could have used even MORE of them because they are all super charming.

I love cozies, I love books....cozies about books, libraries or bookstores are especially enjoyable. This is one of my favorite series. It's classic cozy in setting and premise, with interesting characters. The mystery is nicely intricate and grabs on. Jenn McKinlay is very good with the laying out of possible suspects and weaving the story along with the character development.
Someone is buying up islands off the coast where librarian Lindsay lives. There's a suspicious death on one of the islands that she visits with book deliveries. Everyone has to be careful since this whole island is boobytrapped to allow the brothers who live there keep their solitude. A nice array of suspects.
Little bit of a love triangle, a new love in bloom, but it doesn't overwhelm the mystery. It's a nice tone.
I liked the short story that the author included. It was a neat intro to a new character that I look forward to more stories from.
I can definitely recommend this books, series and author.
