I was so looking forward to this book because I just loved the last three (well, really the first two more so than than the last) and was hoping to get another dominating male like Korum. But as we know, Korum is one of a kind even among his own kind so it just didn't happen.

Yes, Zaron was very possessive and liked to be in control. But he just wasn't as forceful for much of the time. I guess to be fair, he had his reasons though. Partly because of a mate he lost, and partly because of fear that he held. Still, I enjoyed his character. Getting a Krinar science nerd was interesting and he still did have that primitive side all of his people do...we just don't see it often.

As for Emily, I could go either way with her. I was fine with how she dealt with her captivity and all she learned. I mean, come on. Who wouldn't cave to such a fine male specimen? What I didn't care for was her almost obsessive need to get back to work on Wall Street. Ironically, that's the field I'm currently working in and I hate it. Can't wait to get out. It can be so tedious and boring, plus the uncertainty of everything does nothing but cause stress. So, personally, I just can't imagine anyone wanting to come back to it so badly. But that's just me. That aside, she only really did one stupid thing in the book and that sure came back to bite her.

Okay, so. Emily had recently lost her job so she has gone on a vacation to Costa Rica for a bit. After a heavy rain she goes out for a walk and finds herself precariously hanging from a bridge. But not for long. Lucky for her Zaron hears her panicked scream and runs to find it. He arrives to late to catch her, but not too late to save her. She immediately catches his attention but it is her determination to live that makes him take her with him. A few days later, she wakes up and finds herself as his unwilling guest for two weeks. During which time she learns more about him and select pieces of information about his people and what's soon to happen.

The first 30% or so of the book was sort of boring because I already knew everything that Emily was learning about. I did know this was a prequel though, so I wasn't surprised by that fact. Unfortunately it did kind of make that part drag on a bit.

Even with escape ever present in her mind, Emily starts to fear leaving Zaron. Her connection is so much deeper with him than anything she's ever shared before. Too bad he's not human. And too bad she knows what his people are planning. So she just can't let herself love him. When the Krinar ships are soon to arrive, Emily's time as a captive is at it's end. Zaron is loathe to let her go but he promised her he would, and Emily feels she must leave even though it literally brakes her heart.

And then it's K-Day. I did like getting more glimpses of what happened when it all went down and not just past tense talk. As the weeks pass, things get slightly better but the panic is still there. Emily has pretty much been hiding out in her apartment except when she has to get/go out. But her grief of leaving Zaron when he asked her stay is eating at her. And just when she makes a decision on what she wants, things take a bad turn. Caught and held against her will (for real this time) her only hope lies with Zaron. The time apart has also been eating away at Zaron and when things become too suspicious he also makes a decision. Seeking help from Korum (yes, I was happy with the couple appearances he made in this book), he fully intends to claim what is his no matter what it takes.

I loved the addition of Emily's cat George. I am such a cat person so I also could never imagine leaving my cat behind. It was slightly humorous Zaron's attempts at befriending the feline, including his plans to take it out hunting. That is one thing I just can't imagine my cat getting into and I would be terrified of losing her out in the jungle.

All in all it was a good read. And I would definitely read any more Krinar books that come out. I just prefer my Krinar males have a little more oomph to them.

Yesss! I was so excited when I heard about this book that I actually preordered it. I never preorder anything, I don't care how much I want to read it, I don't preorder. But I preordered this book because I am a huge fan of the Krinar Chronicles. I'm a sucker for a hot alien and this book did not disappoint. Don't get me started on all that steamy sex, seriously don't.

Emily is in Costa Rica enjoying a break from her life when the unthinkable happens. There's an accident that leaves her clinging to life. When all hope is lost and she accepts death a strange, sexy, man whisks her away to his futuristic house and saves her. Zaron tells her that he is not from the world and now she cannot leave because she knows too much. Will she ever be able to go back to her mundane life, will she even want to leave her savior?

It was difficult to not compare Zaron and Korum. They are so similar in so many ways but different in a lot of ways too. I think Zaron was more intense, especially during sex. Korum, knew Mia was human so was slow in the bedroom, Zaron not so much. He just went at Emily, hard and sometimes it was a bit much. Plus he kept saying "Mine" while they were in the moment and it made me think about the seagulls from Finding Nemo, which isn't sexy. I get that he was possessive, so was Korum but it was just kind of weird.

Even though Zaron was a bit much at times I liked them together. Emily didn't have many people in her life so I was glad when she finally realized she was in love with him. I liked how she made Zaron love again even though after losing his wife he never thought he would again.

After these books, if a sexy alien comes along and tells me to go somewhere I'm going. With their intelligence and strength, what's the use in fighting them? I hope there is more to come in this world because I'm not ready to leave it just yet.

This book was steamy, heat curling off the pages kind of read....lol
the sex out of this world...literally

The Krinars an interesting breed of people and the settings beautiful. A typical alpha male romance. it was good read even though you kind of know what to expect, a new and fresh take on the paranormal twists.

However , I must give praise to the technology!!! hopefully the future can actually be like that...except i might not be here.

this was a good read.

Iā€™ve read plenty of dark romances, and none of those bothered me. This book does.Ā

In dark romances we are all on the same page, itā€™s shocking, thrilling, for entertainment and not even remotely ok or wanted in real life.Ā

In this book the mc is held captive. This is an understanding the author and reader have. Iā€™ve been warned, itā€™s just part of the book. I signed up for that.Ā

Then the author goes on to promise a romance. Ok Iā€™ll suspend belief and normal morals for the entertainment of the book. Sure, sheā€™ll fall for her captor.Ā

I expect there to be ā€œred flagsā€ and problematic behavior/situations, duh heā€™s holding her captive.Ā

But even in dark romance books, we all agree itā€™s not true or real romance. Itā€™s morbid and disturbed attachments and emotions with a fire and passion that looks like romance.Ā

So tell me why this book is peddling me a romance book in guise of a dark one? Thatā€™s what disturbs me.Ā

When the male lead drugs and r*pes the mc, itā€™s considered hot, smut. (Of course Iā€™m not sugar coating here. In the book the male lead and author donā€™t see his actions as r*pe, itā€™s not even considered)
When he doesnā€™t even think heā€™s doing anything wrong, we he decides for her that she doesnā€™t need to know heā€™s drugging her because it made them feel even better.Ā
When she protest and says no, but he keeps kissing her until she caves, itā€™s hot, heā€™s a true alpha male, huh.Ā

When he acknowledges that itā€™s hurting her to keep her with him, but decides heā€™s too selfish to let her go because he doesnā€™t want to give up r*aping her. They have a ā€œconnectionā€ he wants to benefit from, even if she would rather leave. That not cute, it doesnā€™t make me giddy or happy.Ā

Itā€™s not romance anymore. No thatā€™s in the horror genre.Ā

Itā€™s just like twilight. You tell teen girls itā€™s romantic for men to come in your bedroom at night while you sleep without asking, and theyā€™ll believe you. Theyā€™ll want that.Ā

When you label this crap as romance you tell men and women this is how to treat women. That this is how woman deserve to be treated. You perpetuate the abuse of women. Shame on you.

Yeah idk it wasn't as "good" as the original trilogy...I felt like something was missing and honestly some parts were boring and actually plain repetitive. We didn't get anything new about the Krinar and their technology/life so it was more about the romance than anything else.. thus my mild-enjoyment.
And I just want Adam's story so lmao yeah

A couple of years ago I read all AZ books, but avoided this one because of the dead ex.
I think the time away from this world helped (it was nice to be back), but I still didnā€™t (and donā€™t) like this trope.

Before I even start raving about how much I loved this book, I have to say how much I love Zaire's work! I've read all of her novels and I have fallen head over heels for all the couple's she has created. Zaron and Emily were no exception. While you don't have to read Mia and Korum's story to love this book, I would HIGHLY recommend it if you enjoy it. :)

Emily is down on her luck. She lost her job, boyfriend, and her savings are depleting. Before losing everything, she booked a trip to Costa Rica and figures she might as well enjoy one last vacation. Things go wrong when she falls off a bridge that should take her life. However, two days later, she wakes up in a futuristic house with the most impossibly beautiful man she's ever seen and no memories of how she got there. He introduces himself as Zaron (who turns out to be from another planet). He explains that he healed her using technology from his planet and that she can't leave until others from his homeĀ  arrive on Earth in a little over two weeks. Why are they coming? Do they mean humans harm? How far are their advancements? And how is she going to be held captive by such an attractive man (alien) who looks at her like he's constantly restraining from ripping her clothes off?

Guys, I feel like the way I described the plot is so cheesy, but this book is so freaking far from cheesy! It's sexy, romantic, fun, intriguing, gripping, raw. I could go on and on. If you like possessive, domineering men that have just the right amount of gentle qualities, you're not going to be able to put this book down.

I voluntarily read an ARC. Thank you so much!!
