Another great book from Elizabeth Hunter. I wasn't too keen on reading a book on Baojia and although I bought the book as soon as it came out I have only just read it. Why oh why did I wait so long. It was a lovely story and I fell in live with Baojia. It was fast moving, fun, romantic and all the old charactors came back for a visit. Well done Elizabeth. Thank you.

I really liked this book more then i thought i would. The author had seemed to fall in to a little bit of a pattern with her vamp stories and this was a refreshing change. I think my favorite part was getting to see how deep Baojia really was. Natalie was a fun character to get to know. i definitely will keep on reading these books

Ooh, an ending left open to interpretation, kinda

Boajia has fascinated me from the start, so I was super stoked to FINALLY dive into his story (pardon the pun)!!
I was more than happy with the flow of his story (again, totally didn’t mean that pun either 😄) and LOVE Natalie. She’s a woman who goes after what she wants, regardless of the danger. Maybe sometimes TOO willful, but it makes for an interesting adventure. She was a perfect counterpoint to Boajia’s personality and I was a bit teary by that ending. I’m hoping to get a few more glimpses of them in future books to see where they really go from here!

I listened to the audio version, which was a treat. If one is committed to reading this schlock, receive it in the best manner you can, and that is with a fab East Coast accented narrator. She plays all the parts and her pronunciation of "vampire" was worth the nearly 12 hours of listening. Every time she said vampire, I said it too, but like her. She did say "feral" weird and her Southern accent was terrible but otherwise she was great. She managed to make Baojia the least attractive vampire ever written though. But I'm not sure if that was her narration or the writing. When Baojia would say "I want to bite you" or something similar, I inevitably rolled my eyes and thought "ewww." It's possibly the least hot vampire story I've ever read.
Anyway, I won't go into the many ways the story itself sucked, thought I'd stick with the positives.
How on earth these are so popular is beyond me. But I can't knock the author for making money if people are willing to part with it. My advice is to save it for something better.
1 star for content and 1 star for the narrator.

Blood and Sand (Elemental World #2) by Elizabeth Hunter I am not a diehard fantasy/paranormal fan, but I truly admire Elizabeth Hunter's ability, as a writer, to take what usually turns me off about them, and tell my brain I'm reading fiction. Instead of scoffing at the fantasy aspects of her books I almost forget I'm reading about vampires. Her fantastical novels never feel ridiculous, and I am able to feel connected to her characters like they are human. I was not expecting Baojia to blow me away as a character, but he certainly did. He exhibited honor, intelligence, a dry sense of humor, sarcasm, and for a water vampire, he was smokin' hot! I loved every facet of his and Natalie's relationship, and thoroughly loved the suspenseful aspects of the book. Excellently done, Ms. Hunter!!!

Another good addition to the Elemental Mysteries and World series. At first, I wasn't sure if I cared enough about Baojia to read a book devoted to him. But I was wrong. I really liked it and I really liked the addition of Natalie. She was definitely a breath of fresh air. And of course, there is no down side into getting further glimpses into the beloved characters of past books.

I really like this series and this author. I'll probably go on to read her cambria springs series as well.

If you like paranormal mystery/romance, then you will like this. Although all of EH's books do involve a romance of some sort, they aren't generally the main point or progressor (is that even a word? lol) of the story. It's the mystery around them that fulfills that function. The romances are just an added bonus of sorts. And one thing I like is that her characters never jump straight into bed. And the sex scenes are never overly detailed. You get just enough to get the picture and then she moves on.

Once again. A great addition to the series. I recommend it.

You know you are reading a good series when you fall right back into the world of the story and characters feel like old friends regardless of how long it has been since you read the previous books in the series. This book made me feel like I was catching up on old friends I hadn't seen in years - I loved it - every word!!! I hope this is not the end, after devouring this book in only two days I am once again on the withdrawal bus!!! Elizabeth never stop writing you are amazing!
