3.5 stars. Very good, just not as good as the first one. Parts seemed to be contrived, and the deus ex machina ending annoyed me. A good story, and looking forward to the continuation of the series.

4 ⭐️ I reread this book for the second time as I have bought the rest of the series since I loved the first two. I must add that this book is definitely my favourite out of the first two I have read. Alongside Evan’s missions he is captured by a person that is interested in him and Evan finds out something not so good about this man and his ideas for the future. His rivals are also still out to get him.

However, Evan still thinks about the boy on the other end of the phone needing his help, later you find out that the phone never worked and it was in fact Evan’s younger self asking for the help 😢 The ending had me smiling for Evan and Mia, yet my jaw hit the floor when Evan had picked up the phone to have heard Jack’s voice.

This was very different to the first book, which I appreciated and gave me hope that the series wouldn't become tired and repetitive. Some of this felt a tad far-fetched, somewhat James Bond-esque in his ability to survive and escape but also very entertaining and gripping to read.

I loved that the teaser thrown out at the end of Orphan X was partially resolved in this book. I hate when the reader is let in on a secret which is then dangled throughout a series as a means to keep us engaged, so seeing how it played out and opened up future storylines was great. The character development was so strong too. We are starting to learn much more about Evan.

I am still hugely invested in the series and am already reading book #3. I'm secretly hoping that Candy changes allegiance as that chick rocks.

I love this action/adventure series - you've got to be immune to the shooting/fighting getting the bad guys. Evan Smoak - the nowhere man is a little like a high-tech Jack Reacher. This one keeps going and going!

Unfortunately didn’t find this book as amazing as the first in the series.
There was a part in the middle where it dragged a bit but start and end were great
