This series is Twilight fanfiction, and the level of writing and editing is very similar. I swear to god if I read the words murmur or mutter one more time I might have kicked someone. However, like every book in this series, I couldn't put the damn thing down.

To be quite honest, I went into reading this with preconceived notions about what happened in this book and I was really quite wrong.

Sure there are still some things I was right about, like how it doesn't portray an accurate and well executed Dominate and Submissive relationship, but I have to say, the only time he ever does anything to her that she doesn't want done to her is once and even then she asked him to do it, initially. That was the spanking with the belt.

In every single wording about their sexual encounters, her mind and body are wanton for him and she shows that. Nowhere in those sexual encounters, even when he has sex with her when she's on her period, she is okay with that. Nowhere during that entire scene does she yell or say the word "no". That has been grossly mis-portrayed. Yes, the sex scenes are steamy and no I don't believe anyone should ever enter into a relationship with a man like Christian Grey.

He's destructive and using Anastasia's words, "a major control-freak". That right there is qualifications for an unhealthy and mentally abusive relationship. At the end she walks away from him, which I internally cheer for even though she feels pain about it.

Yes, there is a lot not wonderful about this book, but the sex was good and nowhere was the sex non-consensual. So haters can hate, but show me some concrete proof, and I mean take the physical book with highlights and underlines and show me where it says something so terrible.

So, last regards, if reading this kind of thing isn't for you, some advice "Don't pick up and read the f**king book".

Bland, terrible 'heroine' who decides to engage in an abusive relationship with a man-child. Glorifies abusive relationships, and also completely misportrays BSDM relationships. If you want sex scenes with sexy power struggles, read the Kushiel's Avatar trilogy, not this terrible excuse for a book. If you thought that Twilight was rock bottom, that it couldn't get any worse, you were wrong and here is proof. This book is the antithesis of literature, and it only speaks to dumbing down of our culture that books like these are popular. The sex scenes were awkward formulaic scenes that made me bored. Bored! Terrible! Regret reading.

What to say about this book? Well for starters it's hard reading a book that everyone is talking about and debating so intensely. I kept my mind open going into this book though. It isn't brilliantly written by any means, however it was an interesting read. There were several spelling and grammatical errors. The erotic scenes were very imaginable and sometimes intense, that's why this was written after all. I think I stand on the other side of the fence than most people who saw a problem with the relationship. Some people loved the couple, some very heavily accused Christian Grey of being borderline abusive. I however felt that Mr. Grey was completely open and upfront with what he wanted from Anastasia Steele, and more importantly what he wanted to do with her. Miss Steele however was very manipulative, she wanted to be with Grey and felt the only to do it was on his terms and therefor she would agree only to pout and consider fleeing when things didn't go the way she had planned. Several times she did things or asked for certain things to happen because she thought it would make Christian do what she wanted or would result in her getting another thing she wanted out of him. However when this plan backfired or was harder to handle then she thought it would be, she'd run off and pout like a child, feeling taken advantage of. It's not fair to be mad at a man who does what you asked him to do just because you didn't like what he did. I hope her character grows up a little in the following books, she's very childish and naïve in terms of handling grown up relationships. She's intelligent, hardworking and confident in her daily life but when it comes to Mr. Grey she is very childlike. Also Christian has a long list of personal problems, I'm not saying he doesn't but he's aware of said problems and is brutally honest in his intentions and needs/wants from the beginning. I look forward to reading the following two books in hopes that each character grows, I'm very interested in seeing how this pans out.
