Definitely got more interesting and exciting in the second half or last third of the book! I feel like it could have ended slightly earlier to be more cliff hanger-y, knowing there are other books in this series. However, it makes more sense, in context after reading the synopsis of the second book, with it being from Bells’ perspective instead of Jess’.

I mean, the main character is a bi girl who USES the word bisexual and is really good at finding and organizing things. Be still, my bi librarian heart. I think I highlighted about 50 different places and wrote 50 different versions of "tiny dense baby queer librarian Jess I love you". Seriously, she asks M if there's a "record keeping project". She wants to create her own finding aid and search engine. Ugh, my heart. Go to library school already, kid.

Happy to know this is on shelves and lists for future bibrarians (and bi people with other passions and future professions, I guess) even if it wasn't around for 15 year old me.

Engaging and fun, even for someone with only a passing interest in super heroes. A little too much telling not showing and I couldn't tell if the long expositions by the main villain explaining their master plan were meant to be an obvious lampooning of the genre or in earnest.

Fast paced, addictive and adorable, this was a beyond fun read.

I have and will probably always be a sucker for superhero stories and this one ticked all the boxes. Sure, it was cliche and super predictable but it didn't matter because it was so gosh darn entertaining and took absolutely nothing away from my enjoyment of the story.

The instantly loveable cast of characters were charismatic and wonderfully diverse. Jess, the MC, is a Chinese-Vietnamese bi girl in an f/f relationship, one of the side characters is a Black trans boy, another is a lesbian and another is Latina. The relationships both platonic and romantic were adorable and the complex family dynamics were fab, so I'm so excited to see where they go as the series continues.

All in all, this was a super fun and easy read with memorable characters and a story I can't wait to continue following.

OMG BOOKTUBE IS SERIOUSLY SLEEPING ON THIS SERIES!

I picked this book up for Asianreadathon in May 2020, and I am so fricking glad that I did. I can't believe that I was sleeping on this precious treasure. Not only is this book written by an Asian author, but it is own voices for bisexual representation, and one of the side characters is trans and they are the main character in the next book. I loved all of this representation.

This series is a bit like a gay Sky High, the Amazon series The Boys, and maybe [b:Renegades|28421168|Renegades (Renegades, #1)|Marissa Meyer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1494896884l/28421168._SX50_.jpg|48526305], but I haven't read Renegades yet! I will soon after I've finished this series because now I feel like reading everything superhero related!

This book was seriously so addicting. I listened to it doing everything. I borrowed it from my library so I had to read it at 2x speed max, and but if it wasn't for that then I would have listened to this book at 4x speed and I would have finished this book a lot faster!

The plot is so good! In the beginning it starts off with Jess trying to figure out if she has super powers, it follows a bit like the Sky High beginning. She then accepts the fact that she won't have any powers so she goes to intern at Munroe Industries which makes all useful robots. Then it takes more of The Boys storyline direction. It's basically great. I can't tell you why it's great without spoiling the book, but I urge you all to read it. There was one twist that I thought was clear as day, but I thought that the author intended to do that because of how clear the twist was.

The f/f romance is also so cute. You basically see Jess fall more and more in love with her high school crush. I really hope that we get to see more of this couple in the later two books, which I ordered straight away after finishing this book.

I highly recommend this book and hopefully the rest of the series. I'm definitely going to be filming a video on this series once I am done!

Aw, this was great! A bit frustrating and kind of predictable, but bright, enthusiastic, and fun! I like the characters, the romances are cute, and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

If anyone out there needs a book to validate their non-heterosexual identity this is a fantastic one. I was engaged throughout the book. The main character is a bisexual person of color and the book isn't /about/ her bisexual POC identity. Instead it's about her and a group of friends saving her city from nefarious characters. I will recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading YA books.
