This was interesting. I had a hard time liking the spoiled rich boy protagonist. Genevieve and Hudson together were interesting to me, and as usual, Paige's portrayal of the characters' psychology is fascinating.

I enjoyed this story. It was short, but good. The plot managed to present me with surprises and kept me interested throughout. I must also add, though, that the book was so short, I felt it struggled with exposition. As in, there wasn't enough/very good exposition. Basically all of Chandler's family relationships felt a bit like a rough draft. The details were slim and the nuances were hard to catch. If you haven't read any of the previous novels in the series, you'd be screwed. I haven't read the predecessors in quite a while, and it was a struggle, at times, to really remember why Chandler and his family have such complex issues with one another, and they never get directly addressed in this book. Considering that the author seems to have been going for more of a novella, I don't entirely blame her, as it seems the prerogative of the author to presume/expect readers to remember the previous novels better. Nevertheless, it down-graded my opinion of the book as a whole. Despite, this, I still would recommend it to a friend.

I originally (partially) read and reviewed a year ago. I couldn’t get past the first 1/3 of the book (see original below). As a huge fan of Laurelin’s work, I decided to revisit. I didn’t re read the beginning- I stand with my original opinion there- but picked up where I left off. And I thoroughly enjoyed the rest. Somewhere around 33% Chandler starts to grow up a bit. He’s recognizing and acknowledging his actual feelings without being a spoiled jerk, he’s adorable with his niece, and turns into quite a brilliant businessman by the end. A disastrous hiccup in the middle happens but I can’t quite blame him based on what he knew - and didn’t know.

Original: Jan 2019
I love Hudson Pierce. The Fixed Trilogy (+Hudson #4) is one of my top EVER favorites. I expected Chandler to fall in line with them, but it lacks so much. About all I can say for sure- because Chandler reiterates it over & over - is that Chandler is Hudson’s younger brother. Chandler proves that to be true in his immaturity. Genevieve is also rather immature, so they are quite a pair. I found it odd that Chandler never ever, in all his conquests, felt the desire to dominate, yet the first night spent with Genevieve its all he can think of. And just coincidentally, that’s what she’s always desired yet never experienced. That side of each of them felt contrived for shock value alone.

I'll be the first to admit that I *may* have squealed like a crazy person when I found out I won an advanced copy of this release. Why? Because I have waited (im)patiently for this book since I first heard it was going to happen. (Seriously, I marked this TBR back in March!) I couldn't wait to find out how Chandler was going to compare to Hudson, and I have to admit that he surprised me.

I'm not going to say anything else about the story because I want you to get wrapped up in it like I did - so I'll just tell you that you *need* to take Chandler for a spin ;)

Chandler is book five in the Fixed series. This is one of my favorite series'. The characters just stay with you and when you start to read the next one it's like coming home. I always forget how much I love a Laurelin book until I start one again.  I get all warm and fuzzy because I know I'm going to laugh, sigh, get hot and bothered, get mad, probably cry, laugh more and swoon. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. I finished it in one day and couldn’t put it down!
Chandler is the laid back funny version of Hudson. And don't get me wrong.  I love me some Hudson Pierce. He's one of my original loves.  But Chandler is front and center now. And, come on, brothers… I digress. We've known Chandler for a long time. He has always been a young hot shot with too much money and a penchant for the ladies. He's also reckless and can't seem to keep it in his pants. But he's also squishy on the inside. Falls in love too fast and always gets his heart broken. He's vowed to never let that happen again. Never leave them unsatisfied, but never stay the night. Until he sees her. Genevieve. The sexy British woman he meets at a charity function. He wants her, but she brushes him off but she's the one who eventually propositions him. One night, but he has to leave when it's over. Fine with him! But it's not really. The next day he can't stop thinking about her and he needs to find her. And then there she is. Outside Hudson's office. And she's aloof and distant and says the night they had was just ok. Just ok! Chandler is not a 'ok' lover. He needs another chance to prove it to her. Something about this girl makes him want to take charge. Be rough. Be dominant. That's not like him, but she brings out his inner caveman. She stands firm with her 'no' until he accidentally says a what he wants to do to her, out loud. It's dirty, it's nasty and she loves it. Now he knows how to get to her and he's not backing down. It's so bad it's good. Genevieve is smart, beautiful and she's in the States to go after the job of her dreams. Chandler uses this as leverage to get her to go out with him. He wants to help her and he can. He's part of Pierce Industries after all. He's falling fast and hard for her and he's scared. But he never felt this way about a woman before. When he brings her to meet his family under the guise of talking to Hudson about her career opportunities, some things about Genevieve and her family come to light and they are not good. Chandler starts second guessing everything she's ever said and done. He doubts her. He doubts himself. Will Chandler trust Genevieve and his feelings for her? Does she have an ulterior motive? Oh man. I love this couple! Chandler is smokin' hot and effing hilarious. I love his inner dialogue. Genevieve is sassy, funny, smart and gorgeous. They bring out something special in each other. And not just their desires. They are hot, sexy, funny, sweet, did I day say hot? I'm so glad Laurelin gave us Chandler's story, but now I want more! And of course seeing Hudson again was perfect! I miss him.

"Is this fast?"
"Don't think about it."
"This is fast."
"Fast things aren't bad things."
"But they're often over too quickly."
"Or they're not. The thing is sometimes you don't know how long a stretch of highway is going to be until you get to the end. All you can do is buckle up and enjoy the ride."

"I do not take the blame for you taking off your panties."
"It wasn't like they were doing any good anyway. They practically melted off the minute you showed up looking like a crumpet in your black tie.

Then, in impulse, I pull him in for a hug. Bro style, of course. Nothing too mushy 'cause I’m cool and he's, well, he's Hudson.
