The Best Doctor for Last

Story: 8/10
Spice:2/5
Spice Hierarchy: Open Door

Dr. Nick Raines is head of Neurology at St. Luke’s Hospital and will be staring in an upcoming TV series. Charlotte Hollis has moved back to NYC and has a job as a headhunter tasked with convincing Nick to move to LA. Nick won’t move far away from his daughter but gains Charlotte as a girlfriend. Everything is going well for both of them until their pasts and presents meet and impact their future.

I remembered Nick’s daughter (Lexi) and her mom from Winnie’s story (Scoring the Billionaire-not necessary to enjoy this, just making that connection). Nick needed a redemption story and he gets it here. I loved that Nick was given the chance to put his daughter first and he takes advantage of that, even at the risk of his own happiness. The banter between Nick and Charlotte as well as their inner monologues are the laughs needed to carry you through the heartbreak they both experience. I was not prepared for that nice little twist with Charlotte’s past and Nick’s present. This was honestly my favorite in this series.

The audio was fantastic from both Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell. Anytime they are together, it’s audio gold.

Really loved that their romance was never that angsty, just the circumstances were. Loved the whole modern family concept. Totally squealed when I realized this was a crossover book with the billionaire series.

Loved this one.

I was super surprised at that because I had zero love or like feelings for Nick in the Billionaire Bad Boys series.

Listened to it on audio and the narrators were great. They are ones that regularly narrate contemporary romance books.

Nick has been back in New York for a couple years now, he's been reestablishing his relationship with his and Winnie's daughter, Lexie, and is currently being filmed for the third round of the docu-series of St. Luke's hospital. Charlotte is a liaison between various hospitals and doctors/medical staff to get them to hopefully move to a different hospital. Which is what she goes to Nick for originally.

Charlotte and Nick's relationship was fun from the get go. I feel like they did fall for each other rather quickly but I fell for both of them super fast too so maybe I shouldn't judge.

Lexie was adorable, it was nice seeing other previous characters pop up occasionally.

This was a really fun listen and much better than the second in the series. My only complaint was that I wished it was longer, which I think is a good complaint to have.

To be completely honest I was the most excited for Nick's story because we got a glimpse at him in Winnie's book and he was the character to dislike. Nick didn't always have it easy with Winnie and Lex but this book redeemed him and showed the true nature of his character and how wonderful he actually is.

Will's book was pretty good, Scott's wasn't my favorite by any means but Nick's book really stepped up the game and I enjoyed it the most. This book was so entertaining and refreshing, with the most lovable characters and a twist I absolutely did not see coming. It was very surprising and I loved that, there isn't much I miss in rom coms but I really liked where this story went.

Charlotte was a breath of fresh air for me. She was such an enthusiastic, loving and funny person. I adored that she was the one to inniciate the relationship and that she was basically just a normal, a bit crazy girl with a sharp mind and a big heart.
The nickname Char though was not it. I really had to bite my way through that one, idk it just bothered me a lot.

Nick was a sweetheart. He was such a genuine person and he was just trying to be there for his daughter and make up for his mistakes. I admired how he took full responsibility for his actions and he was just trying so hard to be a good dad. I wish we could have seen more of his relationship with Lexi because I adore that girl more than anybody else.
Nick was a very rational person and I really liked how he was able to keep his cool when it came to the conflict. He was reasonable and smart and also very charming and funny. He was loving and caring and I liked him the most out of the other guys in the series.

The relationship felt so real and natural. I really loved the progression of their feelings, they didn't jump into bed after one encounter and they built a solid foundation for their relationship. I loved how Nick was more reserved and Charlotte more outgoing, they complimented each other so well and I loved them together.
A huge plus in my book was how well they handled the whole conflict. They were so mature and understanding about it. They knew what the priorities were and didn't make it a big drama moment. I do feel though that they could have confronted Winnie and Remy and just get over it sooner but I didn't find anything wrong with how it actually went down.

I really enjoyed the twist this book took. I wasn't expecting Charlotte to be Remy's ex and it really surprised me but in a good way because I was so excited and curious to see the outcome of the situation. I also liked how easily they resolved it because afterall it wasn't such a big deal.

The end was absolutely adorable, I just wish we got more time with Lexi, Nick and Charlotte as a family.
The elderly couple in Charlotte's house was such a great addition to the story. They were precious and so cute.

Overall I really have to say this one was the best. I loved every character, the plot was interesting and easy to enjoy, the story was quick to read and it flowed so well. I'm happy that I read it for sure.

Loved it.

This might be my favorite of the three in this series. I didn’t laugh as much as I did in others but I loved the story. Loved all of the characters.

Charlotte the head hunter and Nick the head surgeon. Well, brain surgeon really. She tries to recruit him from his head of neurosurgery position at his current hospital to one in California. But she didn’t realize he has a daughter right there in NYC! So he turns her down immediately. But they become friends and then more. But of course there has to be conflict, and their conflict is a pain in the backside, frontside and every other side!!

I enjoyed the story but I found it to be jumbled and somewhat scatter brained in the delivery for the majority of the story. I didn't feel connected to either Charlotte or Nick to fully invest in the story.

This book was read for romanceopolyathon - red on the cover & abs on the cover.

This specific video review will be included in the April 2019 wrap-up.

This was such a sweet romance and I did not see the twist coming.

I'm so glad I listened to these on audio!
