This one really tugged at my heartstrings. It’s very emotional but it takes you through the saga of two hearts in love since they were kids. If you don’t mind an ugly cry over several days, it’s definitely worth the read. Three out of four on the spicy scale! I will definitely be reading more in this series.

This is the most beautiful story of two people who have been in love since childhood but also love a third friend. When their friend dies because of what they each feel is their fault, it leads to years of separation. When they finally get back together again it is like iron meeting a magnet. The old feelings are there but there are also new deeper feelings.
If you ever wanted to read a story about 2 people who are made for each other this is it. It is a great start to a new series and I can't wait to read the books that follow
I received an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review

The trouble with Melissa Foster's series starters is that they not only get me hooked, they end up with me all obsessed for everything to come! She's taking readers to Hope Valley, Colorado via her new series, The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch. If you're a longtime reader of Foster's, you'll remember that the Dark Knights are a motorcycle club with two of its chapters having been featured in some of the author's other series, as well as having a couple of their own series, The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor and The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside. You don't necessarily need to read any of the books from the aforementioned series, but if you're looking for MC romance stories with a lot of heart and heat and a focus on family and community, I highly recommend you check the Dark Knights novels out. If you're new to Foster's writing, feel free to start with this one.

I had absolutely no trouble falling for every single thing about The Trouble with Whiskey. This was a story about love and friendship and learning to live again after losing someone who matters. Both Dare and Billie were such rich characters with layers to them. They were a study in contrasts when it came to how they dealt with Eddie's untimely passing, as well as other challenges that they came across. I loved seeing these two best friends who always felt so much more for each other rediscover their friendship and finally embrace their true feelings. Aside from the main story, readers get glimpses of the rest of the supporting cast of characters, the most notable ones I'm already eager to get to know better as this new series moves forward. Five-plus stars for the series starter!

At one point, Billie Mancini, Eddie Baker, and Devlin “Dare” Whiskey were the best of friends. Known as the Daredevils, the three of them were unstoppable - until Eddie dies in a stunt gone wrong, and their world crashes down around them. The two remaining Daredevils are both broken, and each handles their pain differently. Dare throws himself into even more death defying stunts, while Billie caves in on herself, cutting anything adventurous out of her life - including Dare. However, Dare never gives up on Billie, biding his time until she lets him back into her life - and her heart.

Oh, wow. This book was one big emotional rollercoaster, and if you read it, you’re definitely going to need tissues! I loved everything about this book, from the town itself to the side characters to Billie and Dare’s beautifully complex relationship. I also loved how interconnected everything is! Be warned, the raw pain in this book will break you. Yes, there’s funny moments, and Billie and Dare’s banter is hilarious and to die for, but this book will definitely hit you straight in the feels. Billie and Dare’s story is completely and utterly epic, and I am 100% here for it.

Billie. She’s amazing for many reasons, but in my opinion, one of the best things about her is her strength. Billie is so freaking strong, stronger than I think even she knows at times. Billie always stands there with a snarky comeback and her head held high, even if on the inside she feels like she’s breaking. I also admire her quick wit and how deeply she cares for others. Dare. Oh my gosh, this man. Dare might seem like a crazy, biker player who’s obsessed with stunts, but there’s so much more to him than that. His devotion to Billie and to his family is something to envy, and he does so much good as a therapist at Redemption Ranch. Yes, he likes to live on the edge, but it’s not his only personality trait. I think Dare is kind and loving, patient and steadfast. I really enjoyed his and Billie’s love story. If you haven’t read this… what are you waiting for?

I am such a fan of this Author and was highly anticipating this book. Unfortunately, it did fall kind of flat for me. I found it a little too wholesome at times, where I felt that there could have been elaborations on the raw and gritty emotions.

I think this story is going to resonate with readers who are looking for that “slice of life” story, one that is on the safer and lighter shade of the reading spectrum. For me though, I kept putting it down because I just wasn’t getting what I wanted from these characters. Although this book didn’t work for me I am sure with the right audience it’ll be what they’re looking for in a very sweet and wholesome story.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from the PR Agency in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to Melissa for my copy of this book. As you probably know I am a big fan of Melissa's work and I wanted to hear Dare and Billie's story from the moment t I read the synopsis.

Billie and Dare's story put me through so many emotions. These two have been through it all and survived. It's obvious that these two are meant to be together. They have loved each other for as long as they can remember but Billie feels too guilty to act on it. This is a story of friends to lovers with a hint of second-chance love. I love that Dare is so open and honest about his feelings with Billie.

As usual, Melissa delivers a sexy but romantic read. It's about the love story and the emotions more than anything else. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
