The role of our gut health, and how fibre consumption affects it, is an exciting topic! However, although the author starts with citing some scientific articles in the beginning, as the book progresses the content becomes more and more anecdotal. The author seems to abuse his authority to make certain dubious health claims, which - although they might be true - have not been conclusively scientifically proven. I only skimmed through the final part of the book, containing all the recipes, but from what I've seen his approach to dieting isn't as simple and easy to follow as Mr. Bulsiewicz claims it to be. If you want to learn more about gut health, you are probably better of reading a academic course book, or searching on PubMed.

I’ve been a huge fan of Dr. B’s since the first time I heard him on Plant Proof. He is incredibly passionate about gut health & it always comes through in the way he speaks. Now, he’s provided a resource with scientifically backed research to heal your gut with plants, including rice and beans! I had been dying for this book to come out & finally put all the theories (ahem, lies) about lectins to rest. This book was easy to read & very accessible. I highly recommend to anyone struggling with digestive issues & anyone who is ready to stop dieting & restricting.

As always, Dr. B does a fantastic job of breaking down complicated science and explaining it in a way that the average person can understand. His case for the "why" is extremely compelling and backed by hundreds of scientific studies. If you're looking for the motivation to improve your health, it's here. Where the book disappointed me was in the "how." The diet/meal plan in the last section of the book is no different than any other. It's extremely prescriptive, and filled with overwhelming lists of ingredients and steps. It's inaccessible and out of touch with the average person, unlike the "why" section. Fortunately, I was already on my plant-based journey prior to reading the book, but I had hoped to help glean more information to help others.

geweldig boek heb echt veel nieuwe dingen geleerd. Gevarieerd eten met vezels
