I really loved 'Keep Paris' in all its parts. Lizzie and Danny are absolutely gorgeous and their epic instalove was sweet and beautiful and swoony. In the second part we meet workplace enemies, Bette and Hayden, whose hilarious banter, crazy pranks and fierce competition kept me enthralled, eagerly awaiting part 3, filled with misunderstandings and revelations, frustration and forgiveness, heartache and happiness. This was a real roller-coaster of a read and I can't wait for more in the 'For Keeps' series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was such a wonderful story!!!
I love this soul mates second chance love story!!! This was more than just romance because it was riddled with growth, humor, & of course, a bit of trauma healing.

I loved the story of how Lizzie & Danny first met at 18 y/o in Paris. Their connection was strong, but I enjoyed how they added value to each other's lives. They shared their stories, their dreams, and their goals  with each other while also making life plans. The way that Lizzie's dad manipulated them was horrid.

The time jumped 10 years later, bringing us into a workplace rivalry situation that was hilarious.  I absolutely love the workplace banter, the pranks, and the way their banter turned into a bit of a lusty situation.
The night that they met up in the  bar in NY was fantastic. I loved the way they reconnected instantaneously. The combustion of emotions was exactly what I expected!!!

I loved everything about this story!!!
I absolutely loved the emotional growth that both Danny & Lizzie went through.
I'm excited for the rest of this series.

The writing was done really well. The internal monolog of 18 y/o Danny & Lizzie was fitting for that aged person, whereas the inner monolog of the adult versions of themselves was also fitting.
The story pacing was done really well.
The banter was top-notch.
The spicy scenes were so good. I laughed so hard at their Zoom meeting from the NY Suite.

I do feel that the editing needs another pass over. There were enough errors for it to be slightly annoying, but it's Kelly Kay. I can overlook it.

Starting with the negative.

PLEASE get a new editor. There were SO many grammatical errors, spelling errors etc even within the first few pages, I wanted to give up. It was very distracting, and lasted the entire book.

The first chunk of this book was annoying as hell. I understand Danny and Lizzie were high schoolers but it just droned on, and I was overly annoyed by the "oh my god I'm so obsessed with him/her" and their talk of kissing. It was written like someone in high school wrote that section, it wasn't good.

Once they were adults it was much better. I enjoyed who they became, sarcastic, funny, quick etc. The whole playing as enemies when they were actually each other's love was cute.

What wasn't cute in this section was the amount of times they referred to their genitals in the third person.

This story kept surprising me and I thoroughly enjoyed that. My first Kelly Kay book and definitely not my last.

The story is divided into 3 parts and it makes complete sense for the journey that they took.
Their first chance, their new young love is beautiful and inspiring and full of so much hope for the future. I felt immersed in the joy they had found away from home.
The people they both become, after they lose that love and the other tragedies they face, are hard and competitive. They are completely different to Danny and Lizzie but you can see they changed to survive and move forward. Enemies to lovers is not something I gravitate to, the conflict stresses me. But I loved this one. The sass, banter and pranks are hilarious. Though there are lighter moments, their conflict also takes heartbreaking turns.
The final act is so many things. It's scared and mistrusting, it's angry and unhealed, it's hopeful and risk taking. It's messy in a way that completely suits the journey these two have been on for the last 10yrs. And the ending feels full circle.

I'm excited for the rest of the series.

I was lucky to get a chance to read this book, and let me tell you something you didn’t know about me, but I am a FAN of Kelly Kay, and here are a few reasons why.

1) She writes real people, they are flawed and make mistakes but if you give them a minute they will redeem themselves.

2) She will make you laugh, she has such a smart wit and it comes through with her words. The banter in this is top tier!

3) At the core, her books all have heart and makes it worth they time you are going to spend reading.

This is a story of two people with history, even if they don’t realize it. But once they do it’s magic!

If you have never read a book by Kelly Kay then this is a great place to start. But let me warn you, like potato chips, once you read one of her books you aren’t going to want to stop!

I started reading this book and I will admit I didn’t like it at first. But, Kay does a great job of writing from two voices. Danny is so believable and so is Lizzie. They have stark personalities but some similarities in their childhoods that make their attraction seem very real.

Later when they meet again, their banter is some of the best I’ve seen in romance novels - and their relationship reminds me a lot of the Hating Game in a way - or maybe it’s just how they talk to each other.

She has gems like this:

“Do you go home and practice patter at night?” She doesn’t hesitate. “When I’m not busy creating work superior to yours.”

Honestly, this is the perfect lovers to enemies to lovers. The characters are amazing, the story is fresh and I didn’t want the book to end. I savored each of the final chapters and loved every minute of it. This was my first Kelly Kay novel and I’m excited to read more of her work!

Seriously, if you love Tessa Bailey novels, The Hating Game or even Emily Henry, I would recommend this as a wonderful novel to get your romance fix.

The story
Lizzie is in Paris for three months before finishing high school. She’s away from her controlling father and can’t wait to immerse in the experience. When she meets athlete Danny, they become entwined in each other’s lives, sharing new and wonderful experiences. Fast forward and Bette and Hayden are colleagues and enemies. They haven’t met and always keep their cameras off. But the gloves are off in this fight. What will happen when they do meet?

My thoughts
In a way, this story felt like there were three stories, three personas. The young lovers in Paris are replaced by two enemies, finally finding a way forward. It’s an unusual concept as I would have expected the origin story to have been shorter, but the way the story has written “fits“ cleverly. The miscommunication trope is super strong here, and it’s something I do struggle with. The spice is just as strong though, and be prepared, it doesn’t hold back

This book was down right hilarious! Like tears in my eyes funny.

Lizzie and Danny meet on a trip to Paris. They fall desperately in love even though they are 18. They make a plan to stay together after graduation. Lizzie becomes devastated when Danny doesn't show for her prom. Fast forward 10 years and both have reinvented themselves, and they become reacquainted in the most unusual and amazing way.

This book was amazing! I laughed so hard then towards the end I'm crying and feeling so, so many emotions. It's such a complicated relationship that becomes even more complicated as they go along. The twist was fantastic!

I loved this so much and will definitely be picking up more books by this author! Five ⭐️ all around, about 4.5
