I LOVED this book for so many reasons. The writing was impeccable, the story was compelling, it made me laugh, it made me cry but most of all because it taught me things about Canadian history I never knew. This book changed the way I know my world and I will forever be grateful I read it. I truly LOVED Molly and Max and seeing them not only survive but triumph. The book left me in tears but tears of hope and happiness for what is to come. I truly believe everyone should read this but Canadians especially. There is so much about our history we do not know, we owe to ourselves and others to learn.

I loved this book. I was so engrossed in this book from the very beginning. The characters immediately caught my attention and I was rooting for Max and Molly right away.
I enjoyed learning something new about Canadian history and found myself researching more after.

The writing flowed beautifully. The moments of heartache, romance, fear all seemed to sink into my body as I read. There were moments I had to put the book down and just reflect what I had just read.

Absolutely recommend if you’re into history, or romance. I can’t wait to read more of her books!

A really interesting and engaging story about some little known parts of Canadian history. I really fell in love with the characters and could imagine people like them really existed. I like that she didn't suger coat the affect of anti-Semitism had on relationships and also how badly impacted soldiers were when they returned from war. The only thing I wish was different
she should have broken up with Ian, instead of Ian breaking up with her
it would have been nice to see her own her feelings.

I was heartbroken by this book. Towards the end, I started crying so much because of the horrific reality of what had happened. The world is fully aware of the Holocaust and the actions of the Germans during World War II, but hardly anyone talks about the Japanese. It was only after reading this book that I realized that even with all of the war literature I have read, I still do not know the whole truth about what went on during that time.

Wow, oh wow!! This book is EVERYTHING I love in a book! I read it in one day, I couldn’t put it down! (Sorry, family!)
Some people love beach reads, some people love suspense. Me? I love WWII books with a heart wrenching love story, and this had all kinds of love (friendship, family, romantic) in it and all kinds of heart break. Unputdownable!
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Canada for the advanced copy.

An interesting (and largely untold story) - a few too many loose ends tied up neatly

Genevieve Graham's ability to take Canadian history and weave it into a fictional story is unbelievably amazing.

Letters Across the Sea was a fantastic, but heart breaking book. I absolutely adored the FMC, Molly, and how she stood up for herself and her friends. Her determination to write the truth about the war and treatment of people was inspiring.

I really enjoyed her friendship with Hannah was so sweet and I'm so glad they came back to each other. And sweet ol Max was a fabulous character and my heart ached for him.

Sgt Gander the Newfoundland dog was the best 🥺
