I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I didn't think Joanna Wylde could make this series any better but she blew this one out of the water. I absolutely loved this book! I fell in love with Hunter (aka Liam). Even though it is listed as a stand alone, but I truly believe you get so much more out of it if you read it as a series. Devil's Game takes place in a time frame over lapping with Reaper's Legacy, book #2 but from a different perspective, not rehashing the same information.

Hunter is a Devil's Jack, he lives and breaths for his club, Jack's first. Em is the daughter of Picnic, president of the Reapers. Reapers and Jacks have a truce, but not a good one and no respect for each others club. Hunter is doing what he needs to do for his club while Em is trying to get out from under her fathers thumb and away from Painter, her crush. The relationship between them is built on lies and rocky at best, but the chemistry is off the charts. If you like MC books this series is a an action packed MUST READ!!

The wait for the next one just may kill me, I need to have Picnic and London now!!

I can’t believe it but I’m DNFing this book. I always finish books I start at some point because I usually pick books I actually like but this one!!! I’m not even halfway through the book and I can’t stand it.

A bit of a spoiler

If you’ve read book two then you know that the h gets kidnapped by the H and basically the H lied to the h to get close to her for his club. In the beginning of the book they show the kidnapping in the H and h POV and I seriously couldn’t stand it. The H straight up betrayed her and was a complete asshole and KIDNAPPED HER. But this girl was so “turned on” by him that she couldn’t push him away!?! Are you fucking serous?? The H straight up took pictures of the h naked with his cum on her back and told her he was going to show them to his MC. And she still saved his life. The h was so weak in my opinion and I could not relate to her at all. Just because they talked on the phone and what not she thought he deserved loyalty over her family!?!? I also read a spoiler that she threatened her dad for the H and that was when I decided to stop reading this and never look back.

I loved the first two books but this one was probably the worst book I’ve ever read. I don’t care about either of the main characters. I disliked this so much that I’m done with this series. On to way better

It was interesting to find out what really happened between Liam/Hunter and Em during the last book's kidnapping. It was also interesting to see how Emmy and Hunter could possibly make a relationship work between the princess of the Reapers and the kidnapper from the Devil's Jacks.

Wylie said this book is more of a New Adult book and has a different tone than the rest of the series, but don't let that scare you off. It's a game changer for the series, fills in some of the blanks, and sets up the next book (and the 6th?).

3 Stars (2nd Read - January 2023)
2 Stars (1st Read - April 2019)

I really liked this book. I remember liking it best out of the four I read of this series. But something about this reread just hit different for me. I really enjoyed it. Likely more so than the first read. And I have a feeling reading all the books in order and then reading this one played a part in my original rating. Rereading this as a standalone definitely helped and allowed me to enjoy this with fresh eyes.

I thought the heroine Emmy was a relatable chick. She was strong, intelligent and knew the score when it came to the harsh biker life having grown up as the president's daughter. I felt for her many times with her struggle to step out on her own and push back against her father. She was by no means a pushover but her father was a force of nature in his own right and having grown up with her younger sister Kit butting heads and pushing back against their father there wasn't much room for her to do so. Especially because she always felt the need to be the calmer head between her father and sister.

It was nice to see her stretch her wings and figure out life for herself. I really liked the kind of woman she was evolving into by the end of the book. I loved that for as soft and even slightly naive she could be she didn't take any shit, especially with the hero Liam.

Liam was the kind of biker hero I love. He grew up in the foster system and found himself with a foster sister who needed a protector. He did what he had to in order to survive and to give them both a decent life and part of that included joining the Devil's Jack's MC.

What I loved most about this book was the relationship between Em and Liam. I thought they had fantastic chemistry. I also think Emmy was the perfect match for him. She brought a certain level headedness and sweetness to Liam's life that was addictive for a man like him. She also refused to let him get away with anything whether that be lying to her or acting like a dick. They were perfect for one another.

I also just loved how sure Liam was about Emmy. He was gone for her from the beginning. When she showed back up after he let her go in the second part of the book he warned her he wasn't backing off anymore. He was gonna fight for her. And he did. He did everything he could to prove himself to her and make sure she fought for them too even when shit got tough.

I really really liked this one. I did. I definitely see another reread in my future.

Liam was just...❤️

"I guess my point is this—I’ve spent days fucking women whose names I couldn’t remember if my life depended on it. But you? I remember everything about the first time I saw you, even though we didn’t even talk to each other. That’s when it started, whatever this is between us. ‘Love’ is a word that doesn’t mean a damned thing to me. ‘Em,’ though? That’s a word that means everything. I’d die for you, babe. Kill for you, too. I stood up to my club for you and I don’t regret any of it, not for a minute. So, you wanted to know how I feel? I don’t even have a word for what I feel, sweetheart. I just know it’s really fuckin’ good.”

Devil's Game is the third book in the Reapers MC series by Joanna Wylde. While followers of the series will still be able to glimpse the characters they've grown to love in the first two books, this third book shifts to the Reapers' rival MC, the Devil Jacks.

The lead characters, Emmy Lou "Em" Hayes, older daughter of the Reapers MC president, and Liam "Hunter" Blake, member of the Devil Jacks, first cross paths in book two, Reaper's Legacy. The story that unravels in Devil's Game begins with the events leading to Em and Liam (yes, Liam, because I prefer calling him "Liam" rather than "Hunter") meeting and what happens after Em and Sophie are rescued after being kidnapped, as shown in Reaper's Legacy.

These two leads had a great deal to overcome, given their short but oh-so-colorful history, and while I will admit that Liam was often an ass during the whole kidnapping episode, the guy won me over. ^.^ I love Em and Liam as individuals, but together they were simply a force to be reckoned with. ♥

Devil's Game is currently my favorite in the Reapers MC series and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for both steam and a good story. ^.^ 4.5 stars for this gem, rounded off to five stars for GR's purposes. ♥

ok I loved this book. This book shows love doesn't happen in a pretty vacuum with no problems and no other people messing it up. It also shows that the biker way is definitely not the civilian way.
Spoiler most civilian fathers only dream of beating the hell out of their daughters boyfriends with their buddies lol
Hunter is a Devil's Jack the enemy of Em's dad's MC the Reapers. As the Presidents daughter Em is the overprotected princess who wants to live a little and falls for Liam not knowing Liam is Hunter a Devil's Jack. Circumstances force Hunter to deviate from the plan he had to use Em and in turn destroy her fragile trust. The rest of the book goes on with them both struggling to stay apart because they know it's not likely to work out. Being together is going to cost both of them the trust of their clubs and loved ones. As Burke (Jack's MC) said “Romeo and Juliet died, son. Consider that all the answer you need.” is answer to if he would have allowed the relationship if it hadn't been beneficial at the time. In the end the heart wants what the heart wants and it comes down to needs versus wants and what is most important in life personally.

On to the characters!

Liam/Hunter: He's a vicious brutal bastard. And I love him for it. Even when he was a crow bar with a swiss army knife taped to it (AKA a tool and a half) it was done for him with purpose. It might not make sense to others but it makes sense to him. He's at the core of it a protector. Even if he's protecting Em from him. From the first scene of his in the book to the last he was all about the protection of others despite what nefarious deeds or sacrifices he had to make.

Em: Em is fierce. She knows MC life and loves it. As Hunter says at one point. "Best fuckin' old lady ever." She's stuck deciding between her club, her dad and her heart the whole book. I wanted to punch Deke when he calls her spoiled. Despite being daddy's little girl and the "club princess" she doesn't wait around wringing her hands waiting to be rescued.
SpoilerEven when she "betrays" her father and Hunter it was to facilitate peace and work as the go between

I'm still kind of bitter about this book on their behalf because while they're getting their Happily Ever After it was after sacrifices on both of their behalves. Neither of them will be 100% trusted by their respective clubs again unless in the future they join together not just declare a truce that could end at any time. In the end they made their choice and accepted the lives they'll lead but I'm still angry even though I know it wouldn't be all hearts and flowers and moonbeams. You would think their friends and families would know them well enough to know how strong they both are unless lives are on the line.

4/5🌶️, MF, motorcycle club, rival MCs, abduction, technically a standalone but better read as part of the series (at least after book 2), Libby ebook

Third book of the Realer’s MC series, and I think I liked this one the best so far. This book has Romeo and Juliet vibes as the couple are from rivals clubs - she’s the prez’s daughter and he’s a high level enforcer. Like any good romance, this book starts with an abduction, and basically retells a portion of the last book from the FMC’s POV. I really liked the FMC, I enjoyed that she grew up in the MC so she knew all about the club stuff and was prepared to defend herself. She stood up to the MC members, didn’t let them push her around, and made decisions for herself, which was a change from most of the other FMC’s.

The MMC is kind of a dick at the beginning, but at least he’s self-aware. He grew on me as the book progressed, especially when he started to win back his girl after he was a dick. He respected the FMC (eventually) and treated her like a partner. I liked how the couple fought to be together and once they committed, nothing could keep them apart. I also liked the variety of spice in this book - there was some good dry humping and coming in pants, passionate kissing, handjobs, phone sex, etc. the FMC was a virgin but it wasn’t really fetishized and she wasn’t inexperienced. Plus, there was enough MC politics and action to keep the story moving.
